What is the over/under on when Trump resigns? Think he can last another four months? It was the revelation that Nixon interfered in the FBI’s investigation of Watergate that forced his resignation.

He won’t resign. Today, unlike back then with Nixon, there isn’t a single republican patriot in congress.
Hate to post and run, but don’t count on Rep Cheffetz’ demand for Comey’s memos to be sincere. He will demand all of them and try to use them to deflect from current events by releasing some about Clinton and Obama.

I think four more months is a fair timeframe. TBH, I kinda want the GOP rank-and-file to be left twisting in the wind and doing untold damage to themselves through their pathetic stonewalling, when they easily could have invoked the 25th Amendment. No sympathy for any of them. They made their bed, they must sit in it.
But that timeframe is not taking into account the continuing conflagration of damning leaks and/or a totally disastrous trip to the Middle East.
Another wildcard: what if the GOP donors force the rank-and-file to demand to Trump that he resign… and he refuses?

They won’t even get off their couches.
A gay couple who are neighbors of ours had a problem this morning and wanted to know if I could help them. Once they told me of the problem, I said sure and asked them how thick and long their gear was. They are pretty much standard sized but could get the job done if we did it on their front lawn. I told them that mine was heavy duty and great for getting the job done from behind. When I pulled mine out they noted that it was thicker but they weren’t impressed until I laid the end at the back of our car and then walked past the front of the car, laying it on the ground as I went.
Their car needed a jump and their cables were short and wimpy, mine are heavy duty tow truck-style cables that long enough to be run from a vehicle that pulls up behind the car needing a jump. This allowed me to jump their car without pulling up on their nice lawn (in the driveway).
I did get to tell my wife that I compared the size of mine with our neighbors and they came up lacking. ;)

There is some wisdom to that approach. Do not move until everything is in place, all the sources unimpeachable, all the arguments irrefutable. We are going to get only one clear shot at bringing DT down, let’s not waste it.

I don’t care much about Sanders one way or the other, but he’s got a vocal following. I’d rather he was trying to whip them up to press the GOPers in Congress — who are the only ones who can really do anything — than preach temperance and patience.
But in the end that’s just a tempest in a teapot.
The only thing that matters is what the GOPers do. If their ultrarich contributors start making noises, then we’ll see some action.
re: #38 Scout
I agree about what he should be doing with his followers, but he’s never really showed that type of forethought, effectiveness or alignment with Democratic action.
How is he any different than Republicans with this position? He’s courting their voters still and that is not the way forward on the left IMO.

It goes beyond that. Even if the Charters have to take all applicants, assign seats via lottery and are restricted regarding expulsion, they still can engage in things like targeted marketing campaigns or parent involvement requirements to distort their applicant pool.

Steroid injections don’t make a big dent in knee pain for patients with osteoarthritis and actually might cause greater cartilage loss, researchers report in a new study in JAMA. More than 30 million people in the US have osteoarthritis, which happens when the bones and cartilage in a joint such as the knee start to break down. Doctors have tried injecting corticosteroids into the joint to reduce symptoms. In a new trial of the treatment, researchers gave 140 patients with knee osteoarthritis either a steroid shot or a placebo injection every three months for two years. There wasn’t any significant difference in pain between the two groups, and the patients who received steroid shots lost more cartilage over time. The authors say their findings don’t support using the injections in the clinic.
Saline injections is traditional Prolotherapy.

Anybody familiar with the Charter situation in LA? Are they less of a shit show than in other areas of the country, meaning is the basic model something more than drain money and the best/lowest need students from the public schools while pocketing a chunk of cash for a the charter’s management company?
If you ask a Los Angeles parent, they would insist you asked the wrong question. What they know is how much better the charter schools are compared to the rest of LAUSD. And that is the decision maker. Killing the charter schools would reduce them to common LAUSD levels. Educational carnage.

A good president will go on an apology tour, and I suspect the response will be “No, thank you for replacing them.”
So, Russia’s willing to give the US transcripts of their Lavrov meeting with Trump.
Curiously, the reporting keeps dropping out the fact that Kislyak was in this meeting, which was closed to US media, but not to TASS. TASS photos are the only reason we know Kislyak was at the WH.
Kislyak is the guy Flynn lied about and ostensibly got Flynn fired.
Kislyak is the guy Sessions lied under oath about.
This is a key to what’s going on. Follow where Kislyak is and who in the Trump cabal of cronies are talking to him.
Meanwhile, there’s still more verification that Comey kept memos of all his dealings with Trump.

Are you familiar with the cold war movie The Bedford Incident?
The crew becomes increasingly fatigued by the unrelenting pursuit during which the captain demands full attention to the instruments. When the submarine is found and ignores Captain Finlander’s demand to surface and identify itself, Finlander escalates the situation by smashing into the submarine’s snorkel, calling it “floating debris”. Finlander then orders Bedford to arm weapons and withdraw a distance, where he will wait for the submarine’s crew to run out of air and be forced to surface. He reassures Munceford and Schrepke that he is in command of the situation and that he will not fire first, but “If he fires one, I’ll fire one.”

These fuckers are spinning so furiously that they don’t realize it’s all poop being flung in a blender. It’s gonna stick to everyone in the Trump WH, and not a single person should come out unscathed.
Speaking of which, Pence has not appeared in the past 24 hours or so. He must be congregating with Mother and rocking back and forth over the fact that he’s probably caught on tape/communications just as surely as Trump was with Comey’s notes.
None of these Trump admin people are particularly bright, and even the slick ones are screwed (like Manafort). The only thing holding back the dam of criminal charges/impeachment is a pliant GOP that still thinks they can push ahead with their regressive agenda as though that takes precedent over the Trump/GOP giving away national security control to the Russians.

If there is no incriminating evidence against Pence, it’s only because Trump and his gang felt the man so untrustworthy that they kept everything secret from him. And you’ll no doubt get those who’ll argue that Pence was untrustworthy because he’s an honorable guy, but I think it’s more that Pence wouldn’t have been able to keep his damned mouth shut.

What’s actually going on in Twin Falls is bigots harassing people
For refugees in Twin Falls, it’s frightening that more people now feel empowered to say that publicly. “What was happening here happened before Trump got hyped up,” Babayan said. But, she added, “when Trump came in, it definitely gave more clout, a legitimacy, to those emotions.”

He will never be impeached. There is no way to get that many Republicans to sign off on such a thing. And there is no way to vote enough Republicans out to make it happen.
He may quit. He is, ultimately, a child, and may throw a tantrum. He’s never shown any sign of quitting anything previously, though - despite everything else, he’s never been a quitter. He’s always looked for a way to parlay failure into the next popularity scam, and it’s always worked before.
I doubt he’d quit, though, because he loves the positive attention from his crowds. Most likely he will just go into continual rally mode for the next eight years.

What a fucking asshole our President is. He asks for input, takes some of it, makes a decision and then blames the one that gave him the input closest to his decision.
He Donny, you big-assed fake…you are the President chumpo..take some personal responsibility. The idiots that voted for you deserve that. When something is messed up, you messed up…not your advisers.

It was giving me flashbacks to my recent cognitive testing episode. (I’ve had more of that than the president, and he needs it more!)

Yeah, that seems like a pretty important detail. McMaster doesn’t know counterterrorism doctrine/methods, and didn’t realize the severity of Trump’s breach. It took someone else to realize that Trump fucked up royally.

My tuxedo, Craig, came running in about an hour ago from outside…didn’t stop to say hello to me, but went straight into the living room looking for Eartha, the kitten. That send up a red flag and sure enough when I found them he was watching her face off against a rather large and upset gopher he’d brought into the house. On its hind legs, flashing its teeth, defiant…hell, even I was a little intimidated before I gave it a light stomp so I could grab it with some paper towels.

One day I came home to find that a foot long garden snake had slithered in the front door with me. My other cat, Ginger, (a Bombay I think?) was intrigued. I went a few steps away to grab a broom and sweep the snake outside. In the time it took for me to round the corner and come back, she had bopped the snake on the head, mongoose style, and crushed it’s skull. I was dumbfounded. She’s a little badass. My tuxedo’s the lover.
