I posted about Trump’s fundraising woes a few days back and noted the Trump campaign had not released its August numbers. Well, there’s a reason for that.
Those numbers *sucked*. Trump raised $210 million to Biden’s $365 million.
This on top of Trump burning through $800 million, pulling back on TV commercials and other campaign actions makes me think they don’t have a whole lot of money sitting around.
In their respective announcements, neither side said how much cash it has on hand for the election’s stretch run. We’ll get more details on Sept. 20, which is the next filing deadline for Federal Election Commission reports.
I can tell you that the Biden campaign is texting me at least twice a day and I got two calls on my land line from the Biden Victory Fund today, which I let roll to voicemail. They’ll get more money but not quite yet.
Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts (R-Ameritrade) reading the room in light of today’s news about Bob Woodward and Donald Trump.
Ricketts eases coronavirus restrictions for most of Nebraska (Omaha World-Herald, five minutes ago)
LINCOLN — Gov. Pete Ricketts announced steps Wednesday that should allow a return to near normal across most of Nebraska.
The governor said all counties, except Lancaster, will be in a Phase 4 directed health measure as of Monday. Twenty-seven were already in that phase.
That phase limits the size of indoor gatherings but drops all other state-imposed mandates, including restrictions on restaurants, bars, gyms, child care centers, salons, weddings and funerals. Those entities are encouraged to follow voluntary guidelines to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.
Locally imposed mask mandates in Omaha and Lincoln will remain in place, however. Both require people to wear face coverings in most indoor public spaces where they are not able to maintain 6 feet of social distance. There are several exceptions.
Ricketts did not elaborate about his reasons for the change at a press conference. His spokesman, Taylor Gage, pointed to the governor’s past comments about taking steps to slowing the spread of the coronavirus in order to keep enough hospital beds and ventilators available for those who need them.

Lancaster County is the county with the state capital (Lincoln).

firstly and kind of overlooked is that today the Counter Intelligence folks dropped word today that they have proof that not only did the Russians penetrate our electorial system, they can pinpoint two counties in Florida that were penetrated and that votes may have been actually altered. So, if they could have done that there… were other locations affected? Was the 2016 election actually compromised? Considering the margin of victory in certain states, it needs to be asked….
Now we come to the revelations that Trump knew exactly how bad the Corona-19 virus was, and his reactions/responses to it reveal his character more clearly than ever before. Certain voices in the media pass it off as if he didn’t understand or is too stupid to have known what was coming and the tapes reveal he knew very well what was coming.
His response in protecting what matters the most to him are equally revealing.. of utmost importance was his polling numbers and secondarily was in keeping the folks on Wall Street profitable… You and I are apparently outside of those calculations, and anything that doesn’t service him and his image is of no consequence.
What we need to know now, is based on Trump’s history, he has a damned difficult time keeping his trap shut about things that should not be talked about, so now I want to know that while he certainly is unworthy of being in office a single additional day, what about the rest of his administration? What about the GOP itself, who else knew? We already have an understanding that these guys would in no way consult with the Dems, on any fucking thing, certainly not in any act of potential bipartisanship, one they’ve long promoted themselves as not needing any help and their base would come unglued.
I think we already suspect how far the rot runs, but like most folks I want to know before I condemn, but if the GOP was just as complicit in this charade as the Administration and felt compelled to sacrifice your local doc, nurses, grocery shelf stockers as well as your kids and family for the sake of THIS guy, then if they end up on pikes I would shed nary a fucking tear.
Sept 11 will be particularly intolerable this year, as conservatives solemnly pretend to care about 3,000 dead Americans. They can fuck right off.

Friday is going to be hard for many people. We have to reconcile the 3,000 people who Died For Our Sins on 9/11, whom the Republicans will promote ad nauseum, AND the 200,000 who also died for our recent sins. The latter will be purposely forgotten.

They might be able to stonewall with Bill Barr in the DOJ, but they can’t stonewall other nations’ investigations into whether Trump or the GOP was engaged in a genocide.

Well, I have a better Congressional reform proposal
House of Representatives:
Increase the size of the House from 435 to 1250
Each state has a minimum of 3 representatives.
Congressional districts are drawn by nonpartisan commissions and if the commission cannot agree on a map the state defaults to using proportional representation.
250 members elected nationally at large using proportional representation with a 5% threshold.
Senate:
Expand the size of the Senate to 3 from each state with a Senate election every 2 years in each state.
Additional 100 members elected nationally at large using proportional representation with a 5% threshold.

Your Congressional reform proposal does require several Constitutional amendments:
>> Increasing the number of senators per state
>> Having at-large representatives or senators
>> Specifying a minimum of 3 representatives per state
Expanding the number of representatives can be accomplished through legislation.
In general, Ben Sasse’s proposal is ridiculous. What is wrong with this man? But his idea for housing for senators (and representatives) may actually make sense — that could provide free accommodations for legislators so that they wouldn’t have the financial burden of maintaining two residences. Offering communal dining facilities may encourage people to talk to each other.

Dormitories don’t work — but what about an alternative like the better senior living facilities which provide a full apartment plus cafeterias and “restaurants” where residents can get together for meals? It’s costly to maintain a home in your district plus separate accommodations in DC. It’s a challenge for citizens of more modest means to run for office and this could alleviate some financial burdens.

Well, all of Sen. Sasse’s idea is a problem.
No cameras in the Senate? You don’t get to see what your government is doing.
No committees? There have been committees since the first Congress. Committees dividing the work more efficient and effective.
Nowhere in Sen. Sasse’s proposal is the idea of removing dark funding from congressional races.
A single twelve-year term means a senator would not be beholden to voters. Once elected the senator could ignore the voters for twelve years.
As for dormitories, any senator wealthy enough (or connected enough) will have the money to live on their own. It’s a path to bribery.
The only real way to reform the Senate is to abolish it.
It’s very hard to let go of the past.
And that applies to national polity too.
The Senate as construed originally in the US Constitution was intentionally anti-democratic. It was created to perpetuate the power structure of the colonies.
It is obsolete and each year into the 21st century shows that more and more.
Sure, having a senior body to do oversight is fine and all political structures need that. But that does not mean such a body should be involved in legislating laws or allocating revenues or voting on political appointees.
But Americans are very religious, and transfer their religious feelings of reverence (mostly to the Bible for fundamentalist Protestants, or to historical institutions for other theists) to the US Constitution, as if it is somehow inerrant and unchangeable.
But it was designed to be change.
And it needs some radical updating.

Nebraska abolished its own Senate many years ago. The argument at the time was it cost too much money to run two houses of the state legislature. The state constitution was changed to create today’s unicameral legislature (where the legislators are called senators, but districts are approximately equal in population).
We just blew through “Dark Shadows” episode 700, in the middle of the Quentin Collins the Victorian ghost werewolf haunting Collinwood story arc.
The description of the episode at Dark Shadows Everyday has something of interest in the cultural insensitivity department.
Professor Stokes (the professor in Collinsport who seems to be a professor of arcane knowledge and the occult) has found Quentin dabbled in the iChing, so Barnabas will use that to travel back to 1897 to learn more about Quentin when he was alive.
The description contains this part:
Professor Stokes introduces the iChing, Apple’s new disruptive divination technology.
Episode 700: I Ching the Body Electric
Stokes: It is the oldest known book of divination and mysticism, written in China long before the time of Confucius. It is also the most dangerous.
Barnabas: Why do you say that?
Stokes: Because it is the least understood. Even Confucius, with all his wisdom, could not master it. So, Quentin Collins practiced I Ching… and I would guess his motives were anything but pure.
Barnabas: Is this some kind of black magic?
That happens to be one of my all-time favorite lines in Dark Shadows, because it’s such a delirious, slap-happy moment of late 60s cultural insensitivity.
I mean, imagine if Professor Stokes reached into Quentin’s desk, said “Good Lord,” and then pulled out a Chanukah menorah.
The Professor turns to Barnabas, his face ashen. “Have you ever heard of Chanukah?” he asks. Barnabas has not.
“This is a menorah. It is one of the oldest artifacts of the Jewish faith, inspired by a rebellion in the 1st century BC. It is also the most dangerous.”
“Why do you say that?” Barnabas asks.
“Because it is the least understood. The ancient Maccabees only had enough oil to last for one night — but the light burned for eight nights.”
“Professor,” Barnabas gasps. “Is this some kind of black magic?”

Well, after last night’s winter storm (we got about three inches of snow, plus hail from the thunderstorm before with temperatures plunging seventy degrees from day to night), we’ll be going back to summer next week.
Right now it’s 33°F (it’s warmer in Cheyenne at 6,000 feet than it is here at 3,600 feet), but by Monday we’ll be back in the nineties.
So the furnace will go off early next week and the air conditioner will be back on.
Winter is the expensive part of the year because natural gas to heat our house comes from a private firm; electricity comes from the state public power district.
Meanwhile, we’re sucking on the Covid front in the Panhandle. Our positivity rate in testing has climbed to 10%.
Cumulative cases are curving the wrong way.
Total cases: 726
Active cases: 88, in hospital: 8, deaths: 6 (no change)
Eleven counties of ninety-three have reported no cases (only one in PPHD, Grant County); all Panhandle counties are at “moderate risk” (Grant is at “low”)
All towns in the Panhandle and Grant County have now had cases except Hyannis (seat of Grant County, population 182), Lisco (Garden County, population 64), and Broadwater (Morrill County, population 124).
Women are 2/3 of cases.
Most by age: 20-29, 40-49, then 10-19
Racial makeup: 1/3 is Hispanic or Latino of any race (Hispanic/Latino makes up 15% of the populace)

One of the bigger selling points of Brexit was this idea that a post-Brexit UK would find itself in a bidding war with its former trade partners to grab a slice of the British pie. That not only would they be able to deal direct with other nations rather than as part of the EU, but they’d even be able to bypass Brussels and go directly to the nations of continental Europe to make insanely great trade deals by simply teasing access to all those eager Britons wanting foreign goods.
The reality has been…a total bust. The EU has slammed its foot down and made clear that Boris won’t be going to Berlin, or to Paris, or even to Prague and making one-on-one deals. If the UK wants to keep its old trade network, it will have to work through the EU and that means playing by the EU’s terms. The promise of an Anglo-American trade deal was supposed to be 10 Downing’s lifeline, that even if they couldn’t get good deals with the EU that D.C. would be there to save their asses. Well, that door’s now in danger of being slammed shut in their face. Where are they going to look now?
re: #43 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷
I don’t think it’s dead yet. The heat still works. However, you’re quite right in that our thermocouple burned through when the ambient air temperature was something on the order of -10 degrees F this past January. Waking up to a house that was 58 degrees F was terrifying. And cold.

Yes. I got my modem late yesterday by UPS Next Day Air after only seven days. That’s an improvement because the previous modem took fourteen days by UPS Next Day Air.
Since I plugged in my new modem, my service has been slow but stable.
I did have to spend more than an hour on the telephone with CenturyLink yesterday to get a mail address to send my failed modem to; they expect me to return it by UPS and they do not come to my town to pick up packages. My adventure with furnace during a cold snap back when I had a house was the thermostat going haywire and the furnace running full-on until the internal house temp was over 88 F while it was 25 F outside. I woke at 3am sweating profusely and wondering what was going on. Happened to look at the thermostat in passing and noticed that the temp gauge on it was pegged - and the furnace was also still running.
So I had to go shut off the furnace and open a bunch of windows. It was still over 80 F in the house at 7am when closed windows and headed to work. Called a repair service once I got to work and managed to get the thermostat replaced the next day. (Glad it wasn’t something in the furnace itself that would be more expensive.)

Combine this stuff from Woodward with the story that they weren’t going to help blue states and”democrat controlled” cities and I’m not sure what other word applies but genocide.
The question is though, besides “vote him/them out”, is what consequences will there be for this? They knew and they took steps to protect themselves and no one else. There has to be legal recourse for us, the people left to die by design. All the people who have and will lose their homes and businesses forever, what about them? If these assholes are allowed to get away with this we have no justice system, there has to be a price they pay legally. Somehow.

Democide. When mass deaths are directed at a group not because of race, ethnicity, or religion, the term used should be democide.
Trump’s engaged in criminal misconduct since before entering office, and his mishandling of covid19 - coupled with never reversing himself because he thinks it makes him look weak - resulted in 200,000 deaths. So far.
His death toll isn’t going to go away. Tens of millions are out of work because of it.
He failed the nation, and his excuse is he didn’t want to cause a panic?
The fact is that he knew and did worse than nothing. He made up bulkshit about how this wasn’t as serious as a flu, that it’d go away, that there were junk science snake oil cures and treatments, and none of that approached reality. He’s now pinning his hopes on pushing a vaccine to approval as his last gasp.
He failed. He failed to mandate masks (not at his fucking klan rallies, not at his pressers, not at his photo ops, not at his RNC, nowhere), and he insisted on states reopening faster than the experts warned was safe. The outcomes were entirely predictable. More people died. That’s all on him.
You could insist on people masking up and social distancing without causing a panic. That’s what happened practically everywhere else in the world - no panic, no rioting - just people doing what they needed to do in order to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe. People masked up in states where Democrats insisted on following the health experts, and they bent the curve down. That was without panic.
But panic is a weird thing for Trump to use as an excuse to do nothing. Trump insists that everything is so chaotic and awful that he’s insisting that the nation is already in a panic from caravans, to open borders, to undocumented people murdering white women in the suburbs to crime and riots and protests. Trump’s entire worldview is one of chaos and projection.
He brings the chaos and panic, and he can never project an air of calm. He doesn’t have it in him. Even medicated, he still spews his usual garbage and he sounds like he took a metric shit ton of valium to counter the adderall and whatever else his docs give him and he garbles through a speech he never prepared to read.

re: #44 Targetpractice
Boris doesn’t even read the history of his own country. One of the reasons for the current US constitution was that Britain was making trade deals with individual states, undermining the even then weak central government.

Good night, Mrs. Peel.
Morning all.
Looking through the thread and the comments about Sen. Sasse’s inane “Senate reform” proposals* , I can see one bright prospect looming: Senators, especially Republican Senators, rarely if ever show any interest in changing the rules of their institution except when there’s a danger of their Party losing power/control. So I’m wondering what GOP polling looks like wrt to various Senate races around the country (dire, I hope).
So far ( just as a SWAG analysis) the only “gimme” races (ME, AZ, CO, AL) will leave the GOP with just.a 51-49 Majority- so they basically would HAVE to retain every other seat they hold In order to maintain control of the Upper House. And that really doesn’t seem very likely.
* except for the provision of residences in DC - though the “dormitory” idea is fairly stupid. Surely there are 100 condos/LT rentals available in Washington….

re: #94 dangerman
Everyone in Trumpworld knew. They knew and did worse than nothing. They lied about the seriousness. Claimed it wasn’t as dangerous as the flu. Pooh poohed the warnings by Dr. Fauci and other health experts.
Trump sidelined other experts and ignored the evidence. He and his sycophantic suckups claimed we should do business as usual. They attacked cities and states that shut down to prevent further spread. They attacked governors who put lives first. They attacked the masking/social distancing mandates.
They still do.
They are culpable. They’re responsible. People I know would still be alive but for Trump’s failures to act.
I talked to John Barry, a 1918 flu pandemic expert, on FEBRUARY 28, the day before the first known Covid-19 death in the US.

Imagine had Trump done a 3-week shutdown in February - nationwide - coupled with a total shutdown of air travel. Only essential food service/transportation/health workers traveling anywhere. He could have gotten the R rate below one, and with masking - kept it there - along with reopening based on keeping the R rate below one with contact tracing.
That’s how you control the spread and keep it from flaring back up.
He did the exact opposite. He did worse than that. He lied about all of it. And now we have 200,000 dead.

2020 is playing like a GRRM book.
Covid19 is playing the role of the white walkers, and Trump’s playing the role of Cersei Lannister, who knew but thought it’d wipe out his enemies leaving him unscathed. Yet, if and when he loses, he’ll go all Sept of Baelor on everyone. Because he always puts himself first. He will burn it all down to protect himself.
And the GOP are more than happy to ride along. You’ve got Pence and Ivanka and Jared and all the rest as playing everyone from Tywin to the Freys to Euron Greyjoy.

He just wants the power and prestige of being called President but none of its responsibilities. If there’s an anti statesman, it’s Trump.
i want to correct and amplify something i said yesterday
Correction: Yes. Trump did say ‘to avoid panic’ to Woodward back in Feb/March so it was not just a recent post hoc justification. I got that wrong.
However i dont believe it was a chosen / deliberated ‘strategy’.
I believe it was a lie of justification even back then.
Sure, maybe to protect the stock market.
And still most certainly not to avoid general public panic.
how do we know?
well there’s the totality of his otherwise counterproductive actions and statements through today - as others have pointed out.
He could have ‘avoided a panic’ AND promoted all sorts of logical, positive, health and life saving messages. He hasn’t.
And there’s the actual tapes of the rallies he was also doing at the same time. spewing a totally different message than ‘calm, and no panic’.
and now we are here, today where these symbols - masks/vaccines/distancing, etc are almost 100% political and not science/medicine based personal decisions.
see for example:
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) “is neither a physician nor a scientist but he continues to attack public health advice and scientific evidence on COVID-19,” the Arizona Republic reports.
“In his latest tweets, Biggs urges Arizonans to flout national and local public health guidance on COVID-19… He’s also been urging members of the public to ‘unmask.’”
this is not MEDICAL advice. it’s us vs them….
so why would an R congressman make such an absurd statement?
We are here because trump weaponized medicine/science/truth.
Not because he didn’t want to cause a panic.
‘i want to avoid a panic’ was a lie when he said it then.
it is still a lie.

The most recent Lincoln Project Podcast discusses the likely timing issue with in person voting versus mail in ballot voting. It generally recounts what has been posted on LGF in somewhat greater detail.
Basically, the pollsters expect that the in person voters will be mostly Republican voters while the mail in voters will largely be Democratic.
Most states do not start validating and counting mail in votes until after the in-person polls close.
Thus the in-person totals will become available the evening of Nov 3rd and may reflect a majority Republican vote. The mail-in votes will straggle in over the next couple of weeks and will likely show the Democratic vote overtaking and overcoming the in-person totals.
One concern is that Trump is setting up his less sophisticated voters to believe that the late arriving pro-Democratic votes are the result of some corrupt fix rather than a slow validation and counting process.
The talk goes into greater technical depth. And remains technical rather than politically partisan.
I found it quite interesting. As always, ymmv…

Have to agree. Putin wants Russia to be a dominant nation state in Europe again. I’m definitely interested in seeing what Biden plans to do in Europe.
He won’t have to do much to improve US standing: just showing up to a NATO summit and not insulting anybody will probably be a huge boost by itself.
I’m guessing, though, that the hardcore “nationalist” wingers won’t be happy to see Trump booted out: his brand of bigoted xenophobia was right up their alley.

Yeah, some of the biggest supporters of Mussolini and Hitler in the interwar period were conservatives. They saw Fascism as a bulwark against Communism and the USSR.

Exactly and I’ll concede that a lot of left wingers saw communism and the USSR as bulwarks the other way. But there’s no question that western conservatism lends itself to accepting totalitarianism if it’s done in the name of opposition to socialism and increasingly liberalism.

I doubt that Putin cares about dead Americans one way or another. He just wants to keep enriching himself and rebuilding the USSR unmolested. Trump’s NATO bashing probably means more than covid.
Obviously dead Americans are not a Putin goal in and of itself, but it could be part of a strategy of weakening anything (including NATO) that stands in the way of eventual Russian hegrmony

Trump was afraid to run against Obama.
So I read Ted Lieu mention reckless homicide in terms of Trump deliberately downplaying COVID. The analogy that came to mind is when a doctor or attorney becomes aware that her client is going a credible risk to harm someone. In those circumstances, the doctor or attorney is obligated to notify the police, or face civil penalties if the client does, in fact, follow through with the threat. I’m somewhat at a loss to find a meaningful distinction.

The obvious problem here is that Republicans are cramming most of their votes into a day they’re also trying to fill with chaos and likely street violence. This tactic is very likely to heavily suppress their own vote. They’ll try to target urban districts but it’s real hard to eliminate the splash back when you’re carpet bombing at low altitude.

* File a complaint if the credit report is in error. Much to my great surprise, it worked.
Rules:
1) always request credit reports from all 3 agencies on an annual basis. That’s your right to review.
2) Correct wrong/inaccurate info ASAP since that affects your credit scores.
3) Credit scores affect everything else you do, from mortgage interest rates to credit cards to bank accounts.
4) see (1)
5) do (2)
Rinse and repeat.
re: #238 dangerman
simple question, mike.
how did he shut the entire american economy down?
give us specific actions and citations with dates[Embedded content]
He can’t.
None of them can, because this assertion is just gaslighting bullshit in a desperate attempt to rewrite history (kinda hard when it’s only a few months ago) to make Trump look good, and deflect attention from his catastrophic failures in dealing with this pandemic.
Yeah, I know 2020 has been one of those historical bitches of a year, but I can certainly recall March - I live in NYC, and it was definitely “shut down” due to the pandemic - but I also recall Trump (and most Republicans) generally dismissing the severity of the virus, blithely assuming that it was mainly/only an “urban” issue, and - most notably - trying to AVOID calling for “a shutdown of the economy” (which they still, really haven’t).
The Big Lie. Trump did exactly NOTHING to shut the country down. Mike Pence is the Goebbels of the Trump crime family.
We’re going to need a new Nuremberg trial to bring these mass murderers to justice. https://t.co/UGlPohuHOB— Charles Johnson (@Green_Footballs) September 10, 2020

Trump never shut down the airlines (you know, one of those things that wuold happen if he actually shut down the economy). He never instituted screening or mandates on masking across entire aviation industry. Rather, he fixated on claim that he stopped people flying from China (he didn’t), and then Europe (he didn’t), and then UK (he didn’t).
People were still flying. It’s companies that stopped flying and risking their employees. People saw the risks and stopped flying. They aren’t returning to normal conditions because we aren’t in normal conditions.
Countries across world are now dealing with new outbreaks and instituting lockdowns and masking protocols to deal with localized outbreaks.
Israel, which had been handling things pretty well has gone into meltdown mode because the orthodox communities have decided that shutdowns are targeting them (because they’re the ones where we’re seeing the outbreaks). Bibi’s got a huge mess on his hands.
And other countries are spewing the same kind of Trumpist bulkshit. They are predictably doing worse than those that followed the health expert guidance.
re: #241 Hecuba’s daughter
That is what the total GOP has been, especially since the Gingrich revolution. But Reagan and Grover Norquist ( of “My goal is to … get [government] down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub” fame) also played major roles in kneecapping the federal government.
Tom Nichols, The Atlantic
: “I was a Republican for most of my adult life….
“I understand the attachment to that GOP, even among those who have sworn to defeat Donald Trump, but the time for sentimentality is over. That party is long gone. Today the Republicans are the party of ‘American carnage’ and Russian collusion, of scams, plots, and weapons-grade contempt for the rule of law. The only decent, sensible, and conservative position is to vote against this Republican Party at every level, and bring the sad final days of a once-great political institution to an end. Then build the party back up again—from scratch.”

More malarky.

Not the tweet I was going for, sorry.
I believe there’s gonna be a fight….
“Twitter announced Thursday that it is expanding its policies against election-related misinformation, setting new rules that will likely force the platform to more aggressively fact-check President Donald Trump during the final months of the 2020 campaign,” CNN reports.
The company will either add fact-check labels to or hide altogether tweets that contain “false or misleading information that causes confusion” about election rules, or posts with “unverified information about election rigging.”

Yes. But I may have confused this story; I believe, on second thought, that the lady found her boyfriend’s head in a flower pot. Still très GoT.

The House Democrats passed a big relief package in MAY. Democrats had a plan. They passed it.
The GOP refused to act until today. They waited 4 full months before taking a vote on a package that couldn’t get passed their own caucus. McConnell has screwed millions of Americans and adds to the body count and economic wreckage. Trump and GOP don’t have a plan except to run out the clock while McConnell continues packing the courts with right wing lunatics.

yup.
mcconnell’s plan was to now be able to say the dems ‘voted against’ covid relief.
which isnt remotely true.
it was a procedural vote.
so if this counts as voting ‘against’ a bill, then what i tweeted above about mcconnell means that he has in fact voted against all these things.
‘procedure’ counts, or it doesnt.

re: #170 Dr Lizardo
Fascism is a radically reactionary ideology, and conservatism certainly has a reactionary streak to it. It’s no surprise the two ideologies can work quite nicely together.
ideology works as follows: radicalism is far left, reactionarism is far right. the center is held by (theoretically) liberals to the slight left, republicans to the slight right. Slightly further to the left than liberals (theoretically) are libertarians. Slightly to the right of republicans are tories. a bit to the left of libertarians are socialists. a bit to the right of tories are royalists. a bit further to the left of socialists are communists. a bit further to the right of royalists are fascists. finally, there are anarchists, who will throw bombs in any crowd.
