This was the scene at Donald Trump’s rally tonight in Phoenix, Arizona, as a guy in an Infowars (Alex Jones’ crazed conspiracy site) T-shirt hurled insults at the reporters in the “press pen,” then started chanting “JEW-S-A” as the rest of the crowd chanted “U-S-A.”

When the chants died down, he said, “We’re run by the Jews, OK?”

What can anyone even say about this any more? This screaming antisemitic madness is the horrible face of the Trump campaign, and it’s now the face of the Republican Party too.

1) My great grandmother was from Cleveland and the people of that city have been extremely helpful and kind to me in my research

I think I figured it out:

I’ve been wondering what was up with the sudden rise in popularity of the “OK” hand sign. I’ve been seeing it used a lot lately by celebrities, musicians, and clueless hipsters. But until today I guess I was clueless as well because it never dawned on me that the sign could possibly represent 666, and considering who is using the sign…it makes it seem even more likely. I didn’t figure it out on my own of course, I saw it in some video on youtube. I don’t remember which but I searched for “horned hand” and it was in one of the videos about that sign. Not that I believe everything I see on youtube, but it has to have some significance to these Hollywood Illuminati puppets and their masters or it wouldn’t be so prevalent lately. They also do the sign in front of their eye a lot…you know how much they like eye symbolism.

I’m not saying that this sign is not also used to mean “okay”, scuba divers use it for that, but I don’t think it means the same thing to everyone…much like any sign or symbol. I guess what matters is the power behind the people using the signs and symbols and I think most all of us agree that it is an evil power that is behind the use of signs and symbols by the entertainment class of the NWO pyramid. Also I think it’s pretty safe to assume that anything Lady Gaga does is evil.

I’ve been poking around YouTube for fingerstyle guitar tunes. Here’s another Canon in D performed by a teenager, Virginia Nguyen. Her channel is mostly all in Vietnamese, but I gather she’s 15 or 16, lives in the USA, and started learning guitar when she was 10 or so.
Most of the songs in her channel seem to be Vietnamese songs.

The priest I talked to told me a little about the history in the part of the city where they lived. Are either you, Art, or any other Cleveland lizards familiar with what’s called The Flats? Apparently it was originally a predominately Irish neighborhood but became more Eastern European by the turn of the 19th century.

I have a friend who has a service dog for PTSD (though not as large), who was denied recently boarding a bus from Colorado to California for essentially the same reason. She made a complaint to the bus company, which refunded her money for the ticket and allowed her to travel on the next trip.

I suspect that before too long, Mr. Comey will be retiring to “spend more time with his family.”

As for wingnut outrage, this sort of thing plays well to them, but not to anyone else, and the wingnuts were already on the Trump train. My suspicion is it moves the needle not one damn bit, or possibly even in favour of Mrs. Clinton amongst those (insanely) undecided voters.

Putting thumbs on the scales of an election doesn’t generally play too well with the electorate.

I think it appears that there are more than there actually are because of the Trump surrogates who go to every TV network, repeat lies, and deny reality. Joy Reid interviewed that Trump-supporting pastor from SC this morning, the one who lied about his credentials, got caught, and ran from a TV reporter a few months ago. The topic was birtherism. Reid asked Darrell Scott about Trump’s role in peddling birtherism, and Scott immediately lied by saying it was HRC’s campaign in 2008 that started it. Reid told him that although she respects him as a pastor [she really doesn’t, but she said it anyway to be polite,] she couldn’t permit him to peddle that lie. She set the record straight, wouldn’t permit him to continue to lie, and went to commercial. When she returned, he was GONE.

I am not big on violence, but what they did could reasonably be construed as “making war on the United States.” My argument over at Kos was essentially an overwhelming show of force was needed, especially after the fiasco at Bunkerville, Nevada.

That force did not come. In the last two armed actions against the government, the wingnuts have won both times.

Jamie Hiscock of East Sussex, England has a knack for spotting incredibly preserved remnants of life.

Five years ago, he and his brother, both fossil enthusiasts, were walking along the beach when they noticed a remarkable piece of amber. When scrutinized in a lab, it turned out to hold the world’s oldest spider web. The siblings have also found fossilized bits of Iguanodon, a roughly 30-foot dinosaur that roamed the earth around 130 million years ago.

So when Hiscock picked up a small, brown doodad in Bexhill, Sussex in 2004, he knew it wasn’t any old rock. But he had no idea it’d be the first example of a fossilized dinosaur brain.

I was also nearly out of honey, but was able to get about two tablespoons from the jar and the squeeze bottle. I guess that was enough for the little yeasties, because the bread rose just as well as with three tablespoons of sugar.

I’ll report on the taste after the loaf cools off, or after I wake up in the morning, more likely.

I’ve been looking out for campaign signs and bumper stickers in my neighborhood. I have only seen one Johnson/Weld cluster of signs on a corner house. No other signs on citizens’ lawns. One cluster of Clinton/Kaine signs in front of a law office. One other Clinton/Kaine sign in front of a CWA Union Local.

Counting bumper stickers, very rare. I have seen more Obama/Biden bumper stickers from ‘12 than the current election. Saw one Bernie bumper sticker.

This morning I sent a letter to Congress in connection with the Secretary Clinton email investigation. Yesterday, the investigative team briefed me on their recommendation with respect to seeking access to emails that have recently been found in an unrelated case. Because those emails appear to be pertinent to our investigation, I agreed that we should take appropriate steps to obtain and review them.

Of course, we don’t ordinarily tell Congress about ongoing investigations, but here I feel an obligation to do so given that I testified repeatedly in recent months that our investigation was completed. I also think it would be misleading to the American people were we not to supplement the record. At the same time, however, given that we don’t know the significance of this newly discovered collection of emails, I don’t want to create a misleading impression. In trying to strike that balance, in a brief letter and in the middle of an election season, there is significant risk of being misunderstood, but I wanted you to hear directly from me about it.

When I was at Nortel, we didn’t particularly care for some of the things being done, but what really set things off was when everyone found out the CEO had been breaking securities law, which eventually imploded the company. I just heard excellent discussion on “On the Media” (Brooke Gladstone on NPR) of something I’ve been saying based on what I see in New Hampshire: the myth of the uneducated working-class white Trump supporter. A reporter for the Guardian threw out the baked in stereotypes that much of the media have lazily used to frame Trump’s support and found that by and large his support is from educated white men who earn around $72K/year. In many cases the so-called working-class vote went to Bernie, not Trump.

I should have mentioned in yesterday’s rant about rural NH that rural doesn’t mean impoverished here. It means wealthy people who don’t want to be bothered.

Guest workers back then were Korean, Vietnamese or Chinese, who came over, lived in barracks and were sent home after their contract expired. That was how guest workers were originally treated in the west, but they started settling there, opening up restaurants raising families and opening businesses.

I read that nearly a million Germans are employed in Turkish-owned businesses alone.

Same in the Czech Republic - there were Vietnamese who came here during the Cold War (“Socialist solidarity” and all that) but generally, Czechs were rarely exposed to foreigners aside from the occasional Russian or East German here or there. That’s just the way it seems to work in NJ: it may be called the Garden State, but it still produces a lot of weeds.

ETA: another bummer is that NJ elects its governors in odd years: we have another year of Christie to kick around.

I feel that he plays surveillance on the public in the crime and long war without nearly enough regard to our privacy. That privacy in the face of big data technology as applied to things like licence plate readers, cell meta data etc. President Obama who has powerfully embraced the latest technology and firepower in order to eschew boots on the ground against terror appointed an ally in that. Nothing wrong with that except when we get to net results. Again, just my opinion. Most of this is in pages I put up over the years.

I’ve been volunteering for the campaign since I got back from my vacation (intention to get away from the election for a while spoiled by news of Trump’s bus conversation, but never mind…) and there are other things you can do if you can’t drop everything and trip off to NV, especially phone banking. Since no-one is worried about Hillary’s chances in CA, we’ve called Northern California, Florida and Utah (! that i should live to see the day). This isn’t cold calling, we’re calling Democrats in those states. But I second Robert O: do it! Another link you can check is forevents in your area.

By the way, I have found no sense of ennui or complacency in the people I’ve talked to. Quite the contrary.

If they are correct (or even close), then Donald Trump’s chances of winning are 0.0%. You cannot beat the odds as many times as he would need to win with numbers like his—it would be tantamount to flipping a coin and having it come up heads something like 60 times in a row. Now, it is certainly possible that the polls are in error, but those errors would largely be the result of factors that have no historical analogue, namely (1) the challenges of polling in a “cell phone world,” and (2) some sort of “Trump” effect, wherein respondents are unwilling to admit their support for The Donald except in a secret ballot. No amount of historical data about Warren Harding or Adlai Stevenson or George McGovern or Jimmy Carter will allow these factors to be corrected for. And that is something you can be 100.0% certain about. (Z)

A student of mine went there a couple of years ago on business - she had to stay for about two weeks - and she told me she was utterly overwhelmed by everything. In fairness to her, she hails from a small town of about 1,500 people in South Moravia, and Los Angeles was her first trip to the USA.

She loved the food, however. But I’d guess her L.A. adventure must have been one hell of a case of culture shock for her.

You know, just like how everybody hated Obama’s presidency in 2012 and Romney was gonna win because nobody but Republican stalwarts would show up, just like they did in 2010.

There are more than two tracks. Stupid question. If you want to head east, any track not taking you east is the wrong track. If you want to head east at 100MPH, then taking the east 50MPH track is the wrong track. A lot of liberals want the fast track to Equalityville, the slow but sure track is, for them, the wrong track.

I’m excited for her to be elected. I think she’s a very qualified and experienced candidate, moderate, imperfect, but hits most marks. I am definitely voting for her and not just against Trump.

But I’m also voting for her because it’s time for a woman to shatter the ultimate glass ceiling. When I talk to my wife and mother, and listen to other women and I hear something there: not quite hope, not quite dreams, or idealism, but something. I’m voting for that.

For what it’s worth, I live in Northern Nevada. I have been “doing something” every day for months. My personal GOTV works by starting early and continuing through election day. I talk with colleagues, family and casual acquaintances about any and all of the candidates. I frame the discussion in a way that will reach each of them individually, by talking about what’s important to them. Most are now solidly for Hillary; a few could not be persuaded.

For those that will not ever vote for Hillary (poisoned by 30 years of faux-scandals), I suggest this may be the perfect year for them to vote 3rd Party. If I can’t get a vote for her, I try to dissuade the vote for “that man”. Completely anecdotal I know, but every little bit helps. I don’t know much about losing due to complacency in the general population, but I personally have not missed voting in any presidential election.
