The breath of life did not come from the living God who gave every individual a soul. We came from an ooze, where inorganic matter somehow decided to become organic and reproduce itself. That’s all it takes in a child’s mind to debunk the entire Bible and accept the idea that he is an animal, no different from all of those other animals in the zoo.

Both have been through the public-school system and taken in a lot of the left-liberal PC indoctrination in which that system is marinated. So I'd have to say they weren't very receptive.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. All you need to do to crash the price is create a glut. To create a glut, reduce demand. To do that, just waste less. A concerted effort by people and the government to reduce usage a gallon per week per driver would probably be enough to do that. Time the stop lights, car pool once in a while, reduce mail delivery to 3 days per week, promote 4 day weeks for schools, convert some of the fleet to natural gas and electric cars and keep turning over the fleet to more fuel efficient cars. A lot of ways to do it, all contributing part of the solution.
Now I don't think any GOP candidate would be bright enough to just focus on wasting less. All they think it will take is drill baby drill but bumper sticker slogans won't get us there.

Brown's holding up pretty well so far, but from looks of that, it has more to do with his personality than what he's running on. Warren's got the big lead in money on hand, but she has to really do something with it if she wants to take back the seat.

Yeah but that's next to impossible to attain at this point. I could see it maybe 10 years down the road. What I could see Republicans supporting is high speed rail; light rail; solar; wind projects; etc. On that I think we could easily move forward.
The only other possibility would be some kind of catastrophic climate event such as sustained droughts; wildfires; forest fires; etc. Increased "symptoms" as it were. Otherwise, in the TPGOP environment I don't see it happening.
It's not the only solution. If we look at it as the only solution then we're screwed because Republicans will simply not vote for it.

The problem for a company is that if they have old infrastructure that needs to be replaced, they will need financing to do make the major reinvestment and to get financing requires good prospects for long term cash flow. Most domestic companies that use a lot of energy in their operations survive on thin margins. We know the destination, but we need a plan to get there.

Yeah but that's next to impossible to attain at this point. I could see it maybe 10 years down the road. What I could see Republicans supporting is high speed rail; light rail; solar; wind projects; etc. On that I think we could easily move forward.
The only other possibility would be some kind of catastrophic climate event such as sustained droughts; wildfires; forest fires; etc. Increased "symptoms" as it were. Otherwise, in the TPGOP environment I don't see it happening.
It's not the only solution. If we look at it as the only solution then we're screwed because Republicans will simply not vote for it.
What you are saying is the framing of alternative energy sources has to pull away from the environment and become a cornerstone of the economy. That's true, the message has to hit pocket books in a positive way for the right to embrace it.
My question is how you fund the tax incentives? Although a decent job of PR would bring investors for things like light rail, smart cars even smart grids you still have to counter the right wing image of solar/wind/thermal.

The first loquats were early this year, way early, like the second week in February.
Now though is the height of the season. While the strange climate disturbed the flowering season significantly, some trees are still bearing quite a bit of fruit. And on a couple of trees from which I have picked for a couple of seasons have fruit larger this year.
Few people around here actually eat the fruit, I've concluded. Some do, but I'd bet it's less than 5% of the population. I'm fine with that - it leaves all the more for me.
This year I've come across some large (probably selected) varieties. While one gets more flesh per fruit I'm finding the flavor is lacking. The small round ones that are more yellow than orange tend to have the sharper, stronger flavor.

Due to his hasty departure, he accidentally kept a key to a storage locker believed to contain binoculars intended for use by the crow's nest lookout.
When Blair left the Titanic on 9 April 1912 he took with him the key to the Crow's nest locker, presumably by accident. This is believed to be a reason why there were no binoculars available with the crew during the voyage. According to other versions, the binoculars were not in the locker, but were left behind in his cabin, or he took them along with him when he left the ship, as they were his personal set of binoculars. The absence of binoculars being a factor in the sinking of the Titanic, became a point of investigation in the subsequent inquiries into the sinking.
The lookouts at the time of the collision Frederick Fleet and Reginald Lee maintained during the inquiries that they were informed they were to have no binoculars during the voyage. Fleet, when asked by a commission of inquiry composed of members of the United States Congress whether or not they would have seen the iceberg from farther away, replied that he would have seen it "a bit sooner". When asked "How much sooner?", he responded: "Well, enough to get out of the way." According to legal expert Gary Slapper, though, Blair's "forgetfulness wasn’t a material reason for the disaster" as there were other intervening causes.

In a self defense claim scenario this can be especially devastating as prosecutors can use your running as evidence that you knew you actions were not lawful.

I have a very old great Aunt who is over 100 now. Her married name is Mary Dorr, she was a very young girl about 6 who came to America on the Carpathia on the voyage when the Carpathia picked up some of the Titanic survivors out of rowboats. About 8 or 10 years back at a family reunion she told the horrible story of how she watched as some of the survivors were thrown back in the water because they were men who shouldn't have been in the rowboats in the first place..

The Carpathia was on its regular route between New York City and Fiume when early on 15 April 1912 she received a distress signal from the White Star Line ocean liner RMS Titanic, which had struck an iceberg and was sinking. Rostron was asleep when Carpathia's' wireless operator, Harold Cottam, contacted Titanic at 12:15am to relay regular private party wireless traffic from Cape Race. The sinking Titanic, which had struck an iceberg approximately an hour before, replied with a distress message and call for help. Cottam ran to Rostron's cabin to alert him.
Rostron immediately ordered the ship to race towards the Titanic's reported position, posting extra lookouts to help spot and maneuver around the ice he knew to be in the area. About 58 nautical miles (93 km) separated the Carpathia from Titanic's position, but the Carpathia was not the closest ship to the Titanic, it was the Californian, Captain Lord saw the distress signals but thought there was a party going on at the Titanic and also their radio was turned off, so they did not receive the distress signals. Rostron and his engineering crew skillfully obtained the maximum speed possible from the Carpathia, coaxing her up to 17.5 knots - three and a half more than she was rated for. Even so, Carpathia, travelling through dangerous ice floes, took about 3½ hours to reach the Titanic's radioed position. During this time Rostron turned off heating to ensure the maximum amount of steam for the ship's engines and had the ship prepared for the survivors; including getting blankets, food and drinks ready, and ordering his medical crew to stand by to receive the possibly injured survivors. Altogether, 23 orders from Rostron to his crew were successfully implemented before Carpathia had even arrived at the scene of the disaster.

Lightoller was more awesome overall though. He lived a very interesting life.
He started out as crew on small sailing vessels, put out a fire on one of them, and survived a Tropical Cyclone, a Shipwreck, and Malaria he caught from West Africa. After failing at gold searching in the Klondike, he was a cowboy in Alberta, and bummed his way back to the Atlantic Coast via train. In WWI, he served as spotter for enemy fleets by plane, and acted as incognito spies (with his wife) for the British, acting a retired couple going through German Ports.
He met his wife on his first White Star voyage. She came back from Sydney as his wife on the trip there.

He's not been charged, and its entirely reasonable to try to use legal maneuvers to avoid being charged. It is also understandable that a man who is currently widely despised would want to prevent the public from knowing where he is. But one could still make sure that the prosecutors office knew where you are, and one should come in if they do ultimately decide to charge you. Running says to everyone that you think you'll be convicted and the great majority of judges will allow prosecutors to argue that in court.

True on both counts, but as you said, you can go into hiding and the prosecutors and your own lawyers can still know about it.
It's the fact that he has left the state and cut off contact with his lawyers to the point where they've severed ties with him, and he's talking to the media and making public statements without any input from them either that's the problem. Someone who was truly convinced that they were in the right wouldn't do those things. They'd be right there working alongside their lawyers to be completely on the level.

A tsunami alert was issued for the entire Indian Ocean Wednesday after a powerful 8.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded off Indonesia's coast.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 20 miles beneath the ocean floor around 308 miles from the provincial capital of Banda Aceh.
The quake is in a similar location and of a similar magnitude to the 9.1-magnitude tremor on Dec. 26, 2004 that triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean, killing 230,000 people, nearly three-quarters of them in Aceh province.
Reports on Twitter said Wednesday's tremors were felt in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and India. High-rise apartments and offices on Malaysia's west coast shook for at least a minute.

A tsunami measuring 17 cm (6.7 inches) has been generated in the Indian Ocean and is headed for the Aceh province of Indonesia after a strong earthquake, a Pacific Tsunami Warning Center official said on Wednesday.
Earlier, an 8.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia, sending residents fleeing in fear.
Victor Sardina, a geophysicist on duty at the Hawaii-based center, said the total vertical measurement of the wave, according to monitoring gauges, was 35 cm (13.8 inches), making the height 17 cm (6.7 inches).
He did not provide a time estimate for landfall.
"It doesn't look like a major tsunami," Sardina said. "But we are still monitoring as tsunamis come in waves."
