A lot of those drones are unarmed and there might not have been a bomber in the area ready to go. From watching gun camera footage from Iraq I've noticed that there are a lot of steps they have to go though before they can fire. They need to get permission and I'm guessing that firing on a UN building made it a little more complicated.

Exactly. I just went into quicken and made sure that all my automatic drafts are posting to 2009! I don't like licking stamps!

Bourbon, a little sweet vermouth (with a dash of water if it's too strong), some bitters, plonk in a cherry or a lemon twist and serve over ice. I do the latter because me no likey cherries.

How to make?
I think there are a few different ways of making them.
You can make a vodka martini with a chocolate-flavored vodka (such as Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka), or by adding chocolate flavoring (such as clear crème de cacao).
Either way, it's good form to replace the olive with a Hershey's kiss.

When I posted a reicpe for peanut butter balls a few days ago, someone asked if it was the same as buckeyes. When I went next door today to pay the rent, I asked the landlady, and she told me no, they aren't. The difference is that buckeyes don't have the Rise Krispies, and have a small circle left open in the chocolate covering to form the "pupil" in the buckeye.

No, they are not all the same. The ordinary white mushroom usually available in supermarkets can be tasty if properly prepared, but it is nothing like a tree ear mushroom or a Chinese black mushroom or a portobello or a morel, or those other Chinese mushrooms I don't know the name of but refer to as "penis-heads" because that is what they look like.

Heh. I found a McCormick container of saffron, that normally cost about $11, at Wal Mart marked down to $2.98, because someone had put a bunch of spice jars in the "discount spice" bin. I grabbed it in case someone realized what a big mistake they made.

Of course, even if you'd had a Zima, one would have to ask which one. They've jiggered the formula several times in a desperate attempt to come up with something that people would like, which hardly any success.

I ordered a plate of mushrooms for dinner and pretty much cracked her up.
I just was so nervous and couldn't think to order anything else.. To this day she will tease me we go out about ordering mushrooms...
On my dad and mom's first date, my mom who grew up a few miles from the coast ordered oysters on the half-shell. My dad left the table until she finished eating them. They came very close to not having a second date.

Which brings up the question, if someone was using "grass" and drinking "Dew," would the caffeine cancel out the mellowing?
I dunno about that, but as far as the cancellation effect goes, I can affirm that lots of cocaine users do it primarily so that they can drink mass quantities of booze without getting too tipsy -- while at the same time, the liquor helps take the jittery, teeth-clenching edginess off the blow. As P.J. O'Rourke said in his late-'80s classic Modern Manners (paraphrasing from memory):
Sophisticated users often like to combine their "nose Drano" with alcohol or other depressants, in order to achieve that marvelous sensation similar to not having taken drugs at all.

Check this out - Rejecting truce, Olmert vows 'iron fist' against Hamas
It's just McClatchy. Their slogan is "Truth To Power" and they are just making the juice look like blood crazed warmongers.
A sample...
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert vowed to use an "iron fist" to pummel Hamas militants and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni politely rebuffed French efforts to broker a truce that might make a ground offensive unnecessary.
While the tentative diplomatic initiative stalled, Israel targeted a top Hamas military mastermind with an air strike that killed the hard-line leader and 13 members of his family.
More than 400 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air strikes that are taking an increasing toll on civilians. According to the Hamas-led Ministry of Health in Gaza, the latest Israeli attacks have killed 11 children and six women since Wednesday.

In a few short days, an African American man will move from his private residence into a much larger and infinitely more expensive one owned not by him but by the taxpayers. A vast lawn, a perimeter fence and many well trained security specialists will insulate him from the rest of us but the mere fact that this man will be residing in this house should make us all stop and count our blessings - because it proves that we live in a nation where anything is possible.
Many believed this day would never come. Most of us hoped and prayed that it would, but few of us actually believed we would live to see it. Racism is an ugly thing in all of its forms and there is little doubt that if this man had moved into this house fifteen years ago, there would have been a great outcry - possibly even rioting in the streets.
Today, we can all be both grateful and proud that no such mayhem will take place. when this man takes up residency in this house.
This man, moving into this house at this time in our nation's history is much more than a simple change of addresses for him - it is proof of a change in our attitude as a nation. It is an amends of sorts - the righting of a great wrong. It is a symbol of our growth, and of our willingness to "judge a man, not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character".
There can be little doubt now that the vast majority of us truly believe that this man has earned both his place in history and his new address. His time in thishouse will not be easy - it will be fraught with danger and he will face many challenges. I am sure there will be many times when he asks himself how in the world he ended up here and like all who have gone before him, the experience will age him greatly.
But I for one will not waste an ounce of worry for his sake - because in every way a man can, he asked for this. His whole life for the past fifteen years appears to have been inexorably leading this man toward this house. It is highly probable that that in the past, despite all of his actions, racism would have kept this man out ofthis house. Today, I thank the lord above that I am an American and that I live in a nation where wrongs are righted, where justice matters and where truly anything is possible.

Ya kknow I've about had it past here with Iran. Somebody needs to really smack 'em upside the head and if in fact those new Iranian provided missles can reach Dimona, Israel may just have to do that: Smack Iran, HARD.
Your comment and Link were hardly encouraging but I also have to say that, to the extent Israel needed any excuse to smack Iran around like a pinata, those missiles were all the excuse they needed.
And I STILL don't know why Israel hasn't started it's ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza.
In summer '06, the IDF went into Lebanon in a very minor way to try to retrieve the kidnapped guys. And then the rockets started. And then a rocket actually hit something important. The Israelis (we were listening to the radio with someone translating, so I'm sure I missed lots of it) ramped up immediately, thinking that maybe the rockets were actually aimed and maybe had a guidance system or something. As time went on, it became very clear that the one rocket that hit home was dumb luck (or "disluck"). I hope Gaza and Iran realize that if they actually hit Dimona, they're done.

Gaza? If Israel doesn't have everything as ready to go as they could have by now, then frankly Olmert AND the IDF have been derelict in their responsibilities to the Israeli people. How could Israeli Intelligence NOT KNOW that Hamas had these missiles and their capabilities?

Gosh, I don't. I was working downtown then, and the message being screamed from the media was that if you weren't on track to retire at 26 you were a moron. Also, all the dotcommers bought SUVS and drove them around downtown San Francisco like bats out of hell. Leaving the building was dangerous.

I keep trying to send the Roi to try out for Survivor. He can be pretty ornery around the type of idiots they often have on that show (which, I admit, to my everlasting shame, I just love), and he knows how to find food. I cannot understand how those folks can be dropped into nature somewhere, and be unable to feed themselves. If the animals around them are thriving, then the area has plenty of food.

But the person making this statement is judging Obama not by his character, but by his skin color. As did the electorate, both black and white. Is there any doubt that a man with as little acomplishments as Obama has would be elected President if he were white? He'd have never made it through the Primaries. He wouldn't have been considered at all. Look at Joe Biden's race for the Presidency, and you can see how such a bag of piss and wind would be treated.

Yeah. But that bullshit could have came from any Democrat, white or black or puce or chartreuse. They didn't vote for Obama the man. They voted for the Great Obamessiah, the One who would cleanse us of the original sin of having white Presidents.
They voted for a god, not a President. As such, Obama cannot hope to succeed. The question is how spectacular a failure will he be?
