Revealed: A White Supremacist Leader Has Been Working in the US State Department Since 2013

Well, here’s a comforting bit of information: according to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Hatewatch, a US State Department official hired in 2013 is deeply involved in the white supremacist movement.

A U.S. State Department official oversaw the Washington, D.C.-area chapter of a white nationalist organization, hosted white nationalists at his home and published white nationalist propaganda online, Hatewatch has determined.

The official, Matthew Q. Gebert, works as a foreign affairs officer assigned to the Bureau of Energy Resources, a State Department spokesperson told Hatewatch. Online, and in private correspondences with other white nationalists, Gebert uses “Coach Finstock” as a pseudonym. Through that alias, he expressed a desire to build a country for whites only.

“[Whites] need a country of our own with nukes, and we will retake this thing lickety split,” “Coach Finstock” said on a May 2018 episode of “The Fatherland,” a white nationalist podcast. “That’s all that we need. We need a country founded for white people with a nuclear deterrent. And you watch how the world trembles.”

Right-wingers thrilled that the Dayton killer was apparently into both mass murder and leftwing politics so they can play their favorites games of “whatabout” and “bothsides”.

While ignoring he also supported John Cornyn.

The more you look, the more you’ll find that white supremacists and extremists are in all areas of the government (federal and state). White supremacist, christian identity, and other violent extremist groups make effort to recruit in law enforcement and the military (same as the 3% movement and the sovereign citizen movements).

They often circulate conspiracy theories and radical extremist beliefs, signaling to others who might have similar beliefs.

Where there’s one, there’s a lot more than one.

This month’s print VFW Magazine has a prominent cover article on the VFW sponsoring it’s first all-girl Boy Scout troop.

The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts should merge, but the Girl Scouts permit atheists so that won’t happen.

The VFW also sponsors Girl Scout troops.

The VFW has removed the requirement for religious belief from its list of things to be a member which was there when I joined when I was still in the Navy.

The Boy Scouts announced to the American Legion last year they would allow no co-ed groups.

Coming up, 3PM EDT

Walmart employees are staging a walkout to protest gun sales

Hundreds of white-collar Walmart employees are expected to walk out Wednesday afternoon to protest the retailer’s gun policies after shootings at two company stores left 24 people dead.

Workers at Walmart’s e-commerce offices in San Bruno, Calif., Portland, Ore., and Brooklyn are taking action to urge the world’s largest retailer to stop selling guns and discontinue donations to politicians who receive funding from the National Rifle Association. Walmart sells guns in about half of its 4,750 U.S. stores, making it one of the nation’s largest retailers of firearms and ammunition.

The protest, planned for 3 p.m., comes after a gunman killed 22 people and wounded dozens of others at a Walmart store in El Paso on Saturday. Days earlier, a Walmart employee fatally shot two co-workers at a store in Southaven, Miss.

But wait:
Walmart Retaliates Against Worker Who Urged Employee Walkout Over Gun Sales

Following a pair of deadly mass shootings over the weekend, including one at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, a Walmart e-commerce category specialist, Thomas Marshall, posted two memos widely within the company, urging mass action by employees to pressure management to cease the sale of firearms. Now, Marshall claims he and one of his colleagues are unable to access their internal accounts.

The USAF Academy is one of the places that the Christian Fundamentalists have successfully infiltrated.

My wife knows the wife of the last Democratic mayor of Colorado Springs (he’s deceased).

That woman was there to watch the religious takeover of the city council and turning what was a fairly liberal city into a religious beacon for fundies, while the mainline churches promoted the fundies for their own religious agendas (then got marginalised when they were no longer needed).

Liar for Jesus Gordon Klingenschmitt served his one term in the Colorado House from there, and narrowly lost a later bid for city council in an at-large election where another Republican barely edged past him.

That guy later became Colorado Secretary of State, and complied with Kris Kobach’s voter suppression commission under Donald Trump and sent all the voter data to the commission. (My own red state refused to send anything except what was publicly available, and only if the Feds paid the fee for compiling it.)

The Colorado wingnut was defeated in the 2018 Blue Wave and replaced with a Democrat.

“REP JOAQUIN CASTRO: I’ve heard so many stories from folks the last few years, but in particular the last few months as his campaign has started to intensify, about how they don’t feel safe. These are brown-skinned people that can’t hide their skin color. They can’t hide themselves in public. He’s made them a constant target. they can’t get away from that. Every time they go outside, they’re fearful. So, yeah, you’ve got a lot of people in this country that are living in fear because of this president. And what I’m asking for is for people who are making contributions to that effort to think twice about it, and I’m directly asking the president to stop spending money on campaign ads that target an entire community and inspire shooters like the one in El Paso to go do what he did.”

According to Montana court records, Brockway is a registered violent offender after he was convicted for a 2010 assault with a weapon. District Judge John Larson gave him a 10-year suspended sentence.

Prosecutors recommended his bail be set at $100,000. Court officials said Brockway’s attorney was working Tuesday to recommend conditions that might allow Brockway to be released without posting bond. He will be arraigned in Mineral County Justice Court Aug. 14, according to the sheriff’s office.

my understanding of walmart is they want to be seen as apolitical as possible
since they tend to be in rural-ish areas, their clientele skews R
yes it’s changing as they make inroads in urban areas, but mostly it’s rural and so R
what they do, changes they make tend to be subtle and quiet

- clearly targeting walmarts and walmart customers is horrible for business
- still, they’re not gonna stop selling guns (yet)
- what they might do is bit by bit reduce the size of the gun department footprints, possibly stop stocking certain types of guns; that kind of thing

Oh good.

I think I was wrong. USA today reported it differently, but CBS said this:

Brockway was arrested and later charged with an assault on a minor. At an initial court appearance on Monday, prosecutors recommended his bail be set at $100,000, but a judge ruled that he can be released on his own recognizance, CBS affiliate KPAX reports.

Brockway was convicted of a 2010 charge of assault with a weapon, the station reports. In that incident, Brockway pulled up to a parked vehicle, got out and pulled a gun on a family and stated he was going to kill them, according to KPAX. He was sentenced to 10 years with the Montana Department of Corrections, all of which were suspended.

A lonely GOP voice for sanity.

He’s already being called out across the state by Republicans for being a RINO.

The Nebraska GOP demanded he resign from the party and join the Democrats since he’s such a liberal supporter.

The Latest: Republican faces backlash for bucking the party (Live updates, goes to the Scottsbluff, Nebr. Star-Herald)

The GOP is demanding he leave the party. He’s refusing to do so.

Nebraska Republican Party Executive Director Ryan Hamilton said Monday that state Sen. John McCollister has been telegraphing for years that he has little in common with the GOP voters in his Omaha district.

The statement came after McCollister blasted the party for not speaking out against President Donald Trump’s inflammatory comments about minorities.

McCollister has said he doesn’t intend to switch parties.

Hamilton says McCollister’s voting record on guns, taxes and abortion runs counter to what most conservatives believe. In May, McCollister spoke at an abortion-rights rally at the Nebraska Capitol.

The mass shooting in Detroit on Tuesday you probably didn’t hear about

Four young men were shot at a beauty salon on Detroit’s west side Tuesday evening.

No press conference. No national media headlines. No outrage.

It’s the 254th mass shooting in the U.S. so far this year and the fourth in Michigan, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit organization that compiles information on gun-related violence.

[…]

What constitutes a “mass shooting” varies. According to the Gun Violence Archive, a mass shooting is any incident in which four or more people are shot.

In a 2015 Congressional Research Service report, the FBI defined a mass shooting as “a multiple homicide incident in which four or more victims are murdered with firearms, within one event, and in one or more locations in close proximity.”

By those definitions, there were three mass shootings in Michigan so far this year….

From the NYTimes piece about how Trump’s supporters are eerily like ISIS:

“these deadly messages, which have had mixed success in traditional propaganda channels in all but the most dire historical moments, can spread like wildfire on social media.

He termed the message one of “temporal acceleration” — the promise that an adherent could speed up time toward some inevitable endpoint by committing violence. And the “apocalyptic narratives,” he found, exploit social media’s tendency to amplify whatever content is most extreme.

As with the Islamic State’s calls for mass murder, this worldview has resonated among young men, mostly loners, who might have previously expressed little ideological fervor or experienced much hardship. It offered them a way to belong and a cause to participate in.

Angry white dumbshits get to feel like heroic warriors in a cause. Killing innocents who aren’t shooting back at you is seen as a way to hasten “the end-times” and is lauded.

It is pure nihilism.

A letter to the editor of my local newspaper, the Vail Daily:

I have an idea that should save government offices, businesses, and many private residences a substantial amount of time.

Typically, we lower the flag to half-mast every time there’s a mass shooting and raise it back to full height approximately two weeks later. However, since that’s about the length of time that usually transpires before another mass shooting, we find ourselves going back and lowering the flag once more. It seems to me like a waste of time, especially after this weekend’s incidents.

Since we have a Congress filled with spineless cowards who refuse to seriously address the issues of gun violence and sensible gun control, I suggest we simply leave the flags at half-mast permanently.

He also mentioned that an inverted yield curve has always preceded a recession — that perhaps the economic situation is different now but then, as he agrees, they always claim that. So we may be in for a rocky year.

That is probably the cheapest and easiest fix. The Lenovo all in ones usually have at least and HDMI or DP out to add an additional monitor.

Is it also a touchscreen? It is possible that only the front glass is cracked and not the digitizer or anything actually expensive. Much like a cell phone repair you could get a glass only repair kit and with a heat gun, and a little time it could be pretty inexpensive to fix. Depends how deep the damage actually goes. If you get impatient you could also destroy the hell out of it in the process.

Canadian highway murders: Police say 2 bodies found, believed to be fugitives.

Two bodies found in Canada are believed to be of the two teen suspects wanted for multiple murders, officials said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“At 10 am. this morning, Manitoba RCMP officers located the bodies of two males, believed to be the BC suspects, near the shoreline of the Nelson River (approx 8km from the burnt vehicle),” the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement on Twitter.

“The search is over,” officials said.

Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, were wanted on Canada-wide warrants for second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man whose body was found along a highway near Dease Lake in northwest Canada on July 19. (snip)

The teens, both Canadian, were also considered suspects in the shooting deaths of 24-year-old American Chynna Deese and her 23-year-old Australian boyfriend, Lucas Fowler, whose bodies were discovered July 15 along a highway near Liard Hot Springs, also in northwest Canada.

They suspects apparently had white supremacist/Nazi leanings according to the video accompanying the article.

Mental illness isn’t the problem.
Easy availability of guns is. TX and OH are open carry states, and all those guns didn’t stop shootings.

Open carry states probably increased the death toll… in a state without open carry, the guy with the gun would have attracted attention much quicker, and maybe the cops could have responded a minute or two or three sooner.

Which in the case of Ohio, would mean he wouldn’t have been able to shoot ANYBODY; the cops were close enough to respond within less than a minute of hearing the first shot. If it weren’t an open carry state, they maybe would have responded a block or two away before he got into the club at all.

From last thread…

re: #265 Belafon

Will it be corrupt or not corrupt? We’ll know soon.

Well, the top contenders aren’t easy.

- Pedro Pierluisi, who would be a decent candidate and governor other times (like 5 months ago), he’s being questioned about his ties to the ever unpopular PROMESA fiscal board, as well as his past as Rosselló’s father’s Justice Department Secretary.

- Wanda Vazquez, current Justice Department Secretary, who’s next in line, has even more troubling allegations than her former boss, including that she asked someone high in the cabinet to not send her evidence so she wouldn’t have to investigate.

- Eligio Hernandez, next in line after Vazquez, has the advantage of being the unknown. He comes after Julia Keleher, which was his predecesor.

- Thomas Rivera-Shatz, Senate speaker, how’s trying to rise in power without being elected, is the closest we will get to a banana republic dictator.

- Jeniffer Gonzalez, former House speaker and current non-voting representative to Congress, might not be the worst in this game of thrones, but that’s not a huge hurdle to pass. She will turn into a Rosselló part deux.

And the PR Supreme Court just ruled that Pierluisi couldn’t swear in as governor. So the field clears up again.

One of my coworkers is in the hospital. She texted me this morning and said she’s lost 55 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I’m sure much of that is the swelling for which she was initially admitted (and for which she ultimately needed a dialysis catheter placed) but some of it is obviously not.

I have lost 30 pounds in the last 2 weeks: water from the sepsis. I’d put it on in about a month or less…

From what I understand, attaching a screen is problematic because the factory setting is for one screen. Apparently the usual way of hooking a second screen up to it doesn’t work.

The Dayton photo ops are nuts on any number of levels.

Majority of victims were black, and yet no one in the photos from the WH feed appear to be POC, including hospital staffers, victims, families, or law enforcement. That’s weird. His white supremacist/racist advisers cherry pick the photos/victims/participants, and keep it easy for Trump.

The staffers have to stage manage this to avoid having Trump get raked over coals for inciting terrorism across the nation. El Paso isn’t going to be any easier.

Trump smiling cheerfully, is incongruous with the fact that these people he’s meeting are victims of a mass shooting. It’s not a joyous occasion, but one filled with grief, loss, PTSD, and all kinds of emotions. Again, Trump is a sociopath, so this is expected behavior.

Washington (CNN)White House officials rebuffed efforts by their colleagues at the Department of Homeland Security for more than a year to make combating domestic terror threats, such as those from white supremacists, a greater priority as specifically spelled out in the National Counterterrorism Strategy, current and former senior administration officials as well as other sources close to the Trump administration tell CNN.
“Homeland Security officials battled the White House for more than a year to get them to focus more on domestic terrorism,” one senior source close to the Trump administration tells CNN. “The White House wanted to focus only on the jihadist threat which, while serious, ignored the reality that racial supremacist violence was rising fast here at home. They had major ideological blinders on.”
The National Counterterrorism Strategy, issued last fall, states that “Radical Islamist terrorists remain the primary transnational terrorist threat to the United States and its vital national interests,” which few experts dispute. What seems glaring to these officials is the minimizing of the threat of domestic terrorism, which they say was on their radar as a growing problem.
“Ultimately the White House just added one paragraph about domestic terrorism as a throw-away line,” a senior source involved in the discussion told CNN. That paragraph mentions “other forms of violent extremism, such as racially motivated extremism, animal rights extremism, environmental extremism, sovereign citizen extremism, and militia extremism.” It made no mention of white supremacists. (A separate paragraph in the report mentions investigating domestic terrorists with connections to overseas terrorists, but that does not seem to be a reference to white supremacists.)

According to the specs it has an HDMI port that is a combo in-out port so you ought to be able to hook up a monitor to it.

lenovo.com

If all else fails get a USB to VGA adapter. You can get one from amazon for under $10. Pair that with with a refurb monitor you can probably find for $25 and at least you will have a working machine. kind of sucks and defeats the purpose of the all in one, but it is better than trying to work on 2/3s of a screen.

Absolutely. My Nana had dementia. The kindness of strangers.

I was hired to cut the lawn of a woman with dementia (her daughter’s family lived around the corner, but no kids were home in the summer; ETA: when I was in middle school). She was so thankful and sweet as she paid me 25 cents, which must have been the going rate when she was young. I did it about four times for 25 cents until the daughter asked me if I was being paid and how much—she made it right, of course.

I know…you’re shocked.

The latter assertion about fathers isn’t uncommon. One supposed statistic often circulated after a mass shooting is that 26 out of the 27 deadliest mass shooters in the U.S. came from fatherless homes.

The number is most often shared via a link to an article on Real Clear Politics. That article, however, is simply a blurb linking to a post on Patheos, which in turn cites heavily from an opinion piece by Suzanne Venker that was published on Fox News in February 2018. If we follow the trail a bit further, we arrive at a 2015 article in The Federalist about the impact fatherless homes may have on young men (and more specifically mass shooters).

However, that article did not state that “26 out of the 27 deadliest mass shooters came from fatherless homes.” Instead, that article claimed that seven of the deadliest mass shootings were perpetrated by males under the age of 30, and out of that seven, only one was raised by his biological father

The way NAFTA should have been renegotiated is to create a free movement zone between member nations. It’d never happen because the white supremacists would scream bloody murder over open borders… but if it can work in the EU and it can work within the Caribbean zone, it could work among the three members of NAFTA.

And it worked against the white supremacists, because allowing movement between the US and Mexico would have meant workers’ families could have stayed in Mexico, reducing the number of children of Mexican parents born in the US.

In New York, it’s legal.

Any place a man is allowed to be shirtless, a woman is as well. That was decided long ago by the state supreme court.

As such, the Outdoor Topless Co-Ed Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society was formed in New York City a few years ago to exercise their right in public. (Amongst other things, fiction publishers send them books to pose with in photographs as a promotion for authors, and the book club gets free reading material.)

They have a blog, which most would find NSFW due to the thousands of photographs of women without tops. Occasionally some of the featured authors will also show up with them. (You learn about these things in the erotic Romance editing biz.)

I won’t link their blog here, but you can find it by their name in a search engine.

Conservatives are terrified of boobs, but think open carry is just fine. I think they have their priorities screwed up.

If they weren’t ashamed of their kinks, then they wouldn’t be conservatives, would they?

Funny how sex is one of the few things they do have shame, justified or not, about these days, innit?

It’s designed more poorly than Trump’s new White House Website, and that’s saying a lot.

I can make a couple assumptions about political donations from my town though:

a) Probably not many people do.
b) Anyone who did make a donation besides my wife and me donated to Trump. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to look that up.
c) How did I survive on my village board as an open and notorious Democrat and DSA member for so long?

Toxic masculinity usually winds up in the male going into an incel phase. Women just aren’t willing to put up with men’s dominant alpha-male bullshit anymore - which is a good thing overall, but for the guys who are affected by the change, they’re pissed.

It’s possible, even likely, that ICE did not coordinate this with CPS (as would be normal in any other planned arrest where there are children involved). They would not have trusted a “liberal” agency like CPS not to tip off the targets. This would leave CPS having to respond after the fact. It’s a small town and CPS may not even have an office there. Like all public services, they are likely to be pretty thin on the ground anyway.

Speaking of flutes, She Who Must Be Obeyed’s musical partner of some thirty years, Adita, is is a whiz on an open holed Andean flute called a Cana. It is like a recorder but with a notched top. When Tarantino was filming Kill Bill 2, he needed to overdub David Carradine’s shakuhashi playing. Robert Rodriguez, who had used Adita in a couple of films, suggested her to do it. And she did.

Uncredited, she still gets quarterly checks from rentals. The joy of film work.

4 days after the 2016 election, I posted the following on my FB account concerning the character of Trump — and a wrestling fan replied: “Post NWO-Hogan. Trump is a Heel if I’ve ever seen one.”

Had a revelation this morning and the Google affirmed it. The nation did not elect Mussolini; it elected Hulk Hogan. He campaigns (and lives) like a WWE champion: bullies everyone, insults his opponents, boasts of his prowess, lies about everything, interrupts others, has no sense of decency or compassion, and needs to be surrounded by beautiful women. Fact checkers showed that he was number 1 — ahead of even Ted — in lies about past events. And now he has even stepped back from his trademark proposals.

Ok — I know wrestling fans will have better analogies

It does seem that a person who governs by constantly insulting everyone who doesn’t praise them behaves exactly like a WWE wrestler, without understanding that his words harm real people.

I think it is important to note that today the POTUS treated wounded victims of mass shootings like props, not people. Little staged puppets for his photo shots. Selfies for his ego, and Melanoma was right beside him, basking in his complete disregard for any kind of human decency for victims of horrific violence that quite literally appeared out of nowhere and will affect them for the rest of their lives.

Working for Michele Bachmann (R-Mars) and Jeff Sessions (R-acist Keebler Elf) was not his first brush with wingnuttery. He hooked up with all the right people in the Nazi version of LinkedIn while at Duke.

In some way or another, they all do. That’s why religions recruit through such things as missionary work. (With few exceptions, such as Judaism.)

Even New Age faiths such as Wicca recruit, though it’s more personal and not organised like a church.

If you look at the realtime seismograph from the
CaSeismograph Youtube channel:

CaSeismograph Live Earthquake Stream

Scroll back to (what in California was still Aug 7), UTC 00:53:11, which at the posting of this comment is about eight hours and 15 minutes backwards on the Youtube buffer, and you can see what looks like a large earthquake, but it really looks like preshock for a larger movement that comes very shortly later.

But when I look at the list of earthquakes (see the csv file at earthquake.usgs.gov since the USGS map now is too limited to show close to US but outside US boundary earthquakes) there are no California earthquakes, or even US or even Mexican, to account for the needle displacement at the time the Youtube video clock indicates.

I can only think of one explanation: the sensor was located right on top of the epicenter of an otherwise small quake, the sensor moving so much, but not a quake large enough to make it onto the list. Or the video feed’s digital clock display is wrong. Or perhaps it was some other event, such as a nearby quarry explosion, etc.

Arizona police slam racial bias training: “Absolute worst training I’ve ever had” (CBS, with video, 7:15)

CBS News reached out to more than 150 departments in big cities nationwide. At least 69% of the departments said they’ve added training that teaches officers how to manage unconscious biases we all have - including race.

More than half (57%) of those say they’ve added bias training since Ferguson. But when asked if it works, most say they don’t have a way to measure success - and some officers even said it’s made their jobs harder.

“The content was the absolute worst training I’ve ever had,” said a Mesa, Arizona, police officer, who is white. CBS News agreed to hide the faces and alter the voices of two white officers from the district so that they could speak freely.

It Is False To Claim the Counterintelligence Investigation into Trump Is Unprecedented (goes to emptywheel)

The question [by Senator Josh Hawley], as framed, is totally bullshit, and Democratic members of Congress should stop letting their colleagues frame what happened to Donald Trump in such a way.

The proper question is, is there precedent that a counterintelligence investigation was opened into a major party candidate (distinguishing from Eugene Debs, into whom I’m sure there was a standing counterintelligence investigation through his presidential runs).

And the answer to that is simple. The precedent is Hillary Clinton.

In 2016, there was a counterintelligence investigation touching on both the Democratic and Republican candidates for President. The one into the Democrat was public. FBI managed it in ways, twice, that had an impact on the race. In addition to that CI investigation, there was also an investigation — predicated in part on oppo research from the Republican party — that involved the candidate’s interactions with foreign leaders. The latter investigation, into the Clinton Foundation, leaked. It leaked so egregiously that the Deputy Director of the FBI was fired for the leak.

The fight for passage of the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) will be the subject of the forthcoming FX limited series “Mrs. America.”

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett makes her American TV series debut as Phyllis Schlafly, who led the backlash against the proposed constitutional amendment.

Through the eyes of Schlafly and feminists such as Gloria Steinem (Rose Byrne), Bella Abzug (Margo Martindale) and Betty Friedan (Tracey Ullman), the series explores how this political battleground gave rise to the Moral Majority.
The series co-stars Emmy winner Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black”), Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games”) and John Slattery (“Mad Men”).

Obama’s election really brought out their true colors.

They could have cited him as living proof of their Conservative American Dream: that anyone, regardless of race or social origins, who works hard enough can aspire to the highest office in the land. Instead, they derided him as a Kenyan Muslim Affirmative Action Manchurian Candidate who bought the office by offering Free Stuff to moochers.

Because anything else would have meant acknowledging his accomplishments, no matter how begrudgingly, and they just could not bring themselves to do so.

Impeachment is being made under the American Crime Story franchise? Seriously? Ryan Murphy, WTF?

“Mrs. America” is filming in Toronto and will air in the spring of 2020. The Blanchett series is one of an ambitious slate for FX beginning next year. The network’s high-profile programming also will include the next installment of the “American Crime Story” franchise.

Titled “Impeachment,” that limited-run series will chronicle the fallout of the Clinton-Lewinsky cigar scandal that rocked the White House in the 1990s. Stars include Beanie Feldstein (“Booksmart”) as Lewinsky, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp (John Goodman was unavailable?) and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones.

What happened was all too simple. A black man was elected as President, not just once, but twice.

And this broke the brains of a good many white Americans, because it directly challenged their unspoken - and unquestioning - belief in white supremacy.

Those folks went straight out of their minds…..and the election of Donald Trump was the backlash, their revenge on an America they felt had betrayed them.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We awake this morning to learn that Trump’s still a fucking racist and stochastic terrorist and there are GOPers who are willing to fundraise for him so long as they get their tax breaks (Stephen Ross, we’re looking at your sorry ass). The entire GOP is willing to throw what few morals and ethics they had out the window to get more tax breaks on the backs of those least able to endure them.

It’s the GOP mantra.

They wont do anything about gun violence either. They’re beholden to the corrupt and compromised NRA. It’s who they are, where they get their money, and #MoscowMitch wont bring gun control to the floor.

re: #517 gocart mozart

As I called it above, Trump’s welcome in El Paso was not what Trump or his advisers were hoping for. No one wanted to meet with him. None.

Trump is a stochastic terrorist who enabled and condoned white supremacist/right wing domestic terrorists to carry out their violent fantasies of race wars and attacking minorities and immigrants.

On the same day, Trump’s pushing more lies by claiming that he’s for securing the border and tightening up immigration policy, which so far has meant trying to stop asylum by nonwhites and to prevent nonwhites from entering the US. The very policy is white nationalist/racist in action.

It’s the very core of what Trump is all about.

Racism and misogyny are what animates everything he does when he’s not looking for angle to profit from. Even his pardon policy is about how he can benefit.

Trump thinks Jared has a point about pardoning Blago as convincing Democrats? Who does he think he’s kidding. All of Trump’s pardons so far are entirely political in nature and not on the merits. All of them. He thinks those pardons somehow helps him win over some segment of his base or appeals to minorities (think of Jack Johnson and the Alice Marie Johnson).

To me, this is the problem:

I have been to Iowa. Iowa doesn’t have to worry about a mass shooting targeting minorities. The Texas state fair I can see, but Iowa, no. The reason I say this is a problem is that white people are instinctively going into “I’m scared” mode even though they’re not the targets. They need to think about the reasons and who actually is the target.

604

“EL PASO — On a day when President Trump vowed to tone down his rhetoric and help the country heal following two mass slayings, he did the opposite — lacing his visits Wednesday to El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, with a flurry of attacks on local leaders and memorializing his trips with grinning thumbs-up photos.

None of the eight patients still being treated at University Medical Center in El Paso agreed to meet with Trump when he visited the hospital, UMC spokesman Ryan Mielke said. Two victims who already had been discharged returned to the hospital with family members to meet with the president.

“This is a very sensitive time in their lives,” Mielke said. “Some of them said they didn’t want to meet with the president. Some of them didn’t want any visitors.”

Before Trump’s visit Wednesday, however, some of the hospitalized victims accepted visits from a number of city and county elected officials, as well as Reps. Veronica Escobar (D-Tex.) and Jesús “Chuy” García (D-Ill.).”

The violence appeared to be random and the only known motives seem to be “robbery, hate, homicide,” Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said at a news conference.

The suspect and all the victims were Hispanic, he added.

Man I’m so sick of these revisionist liars. Tell anyone who got mistaken for Muslim after 9/11 that racism was “solved” before 2008 or John McCain’s daughter Bridget that.

“Here we was good enough to let a n-word be president and he refused to say that we wasn’t racists. That’s divisive. He should be like the other colored we let in cause they tell minorities its their own fault.”

Twitter suspended Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) reelection campaign on Wednesday after the “Team Mitch” account posted a video of a protester cursing the senator’s “raggedy, wrinkled-ass neck.”

Twitter is taking it’s cues from Hollywood where bad words are some how worse than violent images. In the Veronica Mars reboot, Hulu refused to allow the show to drop any f-bombs but were okay with the show depicting two beheadings and 3 severed heads.

To me, this is the problem:

[Embedded content]

I have been to Iowa. Iowa doesn’t have to worry about a mass shooting targeting minorities. The Texas state fair I can see, but Iowa, no. The reason I say this is a problem is that white people are instinctively going into “I’m scared” mode even though they’re not the targets. They need to think about the reasons and who actually is the target.

A potential shooter in Iowa might have strong views concerning funnel cake. It’s a good thing that everyone think of themselves as potential targets. They are (MGM, Sandy Hook) and that awareness might finally inspire some action.

Nothing about this seems to make sense, not when there are reports that the Russian authorities told people living nearby to ingest iodine pills, which would suggest that whatever exploded included radioactive iodine 131.

Maybe they were testing something and had radioactive markers involved, but the odds we’ll know what it was are nonexistent. Odds are also high that it’s more serious than they’re letting on.

Bad guys with guns nearly always have the initiative. Heck, cops responded in Dayton and engaged the shooter within 30 seconds. 9 people were still murdered with dozens more hurt.

That’s the entire point of these weapons. Mass killing. Slinging one over your shoulder as a talisman doesn’t protect you or anyone else. If anything, you make yourself a target for the bad guy with a gun since your gun could become their gun to continue their murderous rampage.

Doesn’t even need to be a “bang”. Just a sucker punch.

Brace yourselves - I sense a Tweetstorm coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue:

Investigators targeting President Trump’s financial and business history may have found a way around the White House’s blocking of congressional subpoenas, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Banks have been handing over thousands of pages of documents related to business ties between Russians and Trump to congressional committees investigating the President, while other banks have been producing information to New York state investigators probing the Trump org.

Letitia James - New York’s attorney general - has reportedly gotten information about loans to the Trump org, potentially offering a tantalizing view of the notoriously opaque group’s financial makeup.

A joint investigation by the House Financial Services and Intelligence committees hit a roadblock in May after Trump sued to block subpoenas issued to two of his longtime lenders - Deutsche Bank and Capital One. Those subpoenas targeted information on the financial history of Trump himself, that of his immediate family, and of his closely held business entities.

Blago is an imbecile but not evil or cruel; an acquaintance of mine (a FOAF) was one of his top economic advisers and always thought his heart was in the right place (just not his mind). It’s ridiculous that he was sentenced to more time than our last criminal governor George Ryan who was involved in a financial corruption scheme while he was Secretary of State that led to the death of six children when an unqualified man received a truck driver’s license.

He should be released.
