Chorus:
(That’s just the way it is) well, they passed a law in ‘64
To give those who ain’t got a little more
But it only goes so far
Because the law don’t change another’s mind
When all it sees at the hiring time
Is the line on the color bar, no, no
That’s just the way it is
And some things will never change
That’s just the way it is
That’s just the way it is, it is, it is, it is

I don’t think it should be ignored, but I don’t think the raw text needs to be published (although that’s too late, it’s already out there thanks to 8ch).

I’d really like to see The Philippines seize 8ch, but with Duterte in power that isn’t happening. If we didn’t have a feckless conservative government, we could apply pressure to Manila to move against the site and seize it, or face sanctions from us.

What’s going on here is asymmetrical warfare inside and outside our country, and conservatives want to quit the field so they can stuff their pockets and amass more power.

His published manifesto is the one weapon we have that turns people like Greg Abbott from saying “This Antifa member attacked Latinos in order to frame patriotic Trump supporters” to claiming it’s mental illness. And if you don’t believe he’d like to say that, I’ve god some Jade Helm to sell you.

The main problem seems to be that we are constantly given the impetus and the cause for shootings, but rarely the visceral consequences and effects of such. We are soaked in the mindset that lead to the shooting, but we only get the aftermath as a number unless we are directly connected to the victims or the locale.

I agree that we need to understand the mindset because as you’ve said before, ignoring it just causes it to fester. The problem is that there’s just a super-massive disconnect with the actual casualties for most Americans. We don’t see the bodies, just the stats. And the growing discouragement of any sort of actual empathy or sympathy just means less and less people actually care outside of the same sort of sadness we feel when a fictional character dies.

He’s a terrorist.

Not under federal law he isn’t. Unless he attacks critical infrastructure or a railroad, a domestic mass-murderer, regardless of motivation, is not defined as a terrorist. That’s why abortion clinic bombers and shooters aren’t tried as terrorists, even though it’s clearly in the name of an ideology (religion) to effect fear.

That’s another law which could be updated with a Democratic government.

The only reason the Unite the Right douchecanoe here in Nebraska was charged with federal terrorist statutes was because he hijacked an Amtrak train. He was not charged under those statutes for threatening to kill all the African-Americans on board.

Agreed, his manifesto should be out there for the same reason that his name and picture should be made public, contrary to many voices that say such should be kept secret because “They want the publicity.” In a world where these things were hidden from the public, Abbott could likely get away with screaming that this guy was an “Antifa terrorist” or Trump could blame the “radical Left” for this man’s crimes.

RedState is claiming the so-called manifesto is not confirmed by any official sources as the work of the alleged mass-murderer. They state that only politicians have asserted that.

They also cite it was posted on 8ch (without referencing the site’s name), as a well-known site for trolling and extreme views.

There are only three comments on the article, but they are abhorrent. I’m not going to go into my Disqus account to go after them; all that will accomplish is they will ban me for bringing facts to a fantasy fight.

On the issue of Disqus I mentioned a couple comments above.

Up the thread someone noted that Disqus does nothing to enforce its terms, leaving that up to the Website owners which use the service. It was noted that Deadbart is a notorious Dumpster fire of hate. RedState can get that way occasionally.

But they do in fact have moderation. If a liberal goes on those sites and brings facts in, they will be swiftly banhammered. My rose and pumpkin emojis would get me banned just for those, even if I praised Trump like the Golden Calf in the Bible. So would my comment history from other sites.

They do have moderation. They allow their despicable commentary.

It’s almost like it’s just another bludgeon for them to use against whatever they don’t like. If it’s not using mental health as a bludgeon against gun control, it’s using the homeless and unemployed against undocumented immigrants, or children’s health against women’s health, or the working class against black people.

In each case, they only care about the former insomuch as they can use it to not only minimize the latter but demonize it.

They blame “mental illness” for the same reason they blame “evil” when talking about such shootings: They want to portray the image of powerlessness, to say that there’s “nothing that can be done” to absolve themselves of any responsibility for such acts. When it’s “gang violence” or “terrorism,” they’re off to the races with ideas about how they can stop such and protect us from “those people.” But when it’s a white guy in the grip of “mental illness” or motivated by “evil,” all they can do is throw up their hands and moan that there’s just nothing they can do to stop such acts.

It’s out of their hands because evil is created by God (but they won’t put it that way, even though that is printed right in the Bible). It must have some greater “plan” or good than a murderous ass was radicalised by Movement Conservatism (it can’t fail, you can only fail it).

And it’s always the same BS “whataboutism”: “What about (insert blue city)?!”

But yet there’s not enough IQ points between the whole rancid bunch of them to recognize that they’re helping make the argue for gun control. If there’s hundreds of shootings in a city in any given year, let alone a month or week, then that would indicate that this country does not have a problem with “mental illness” or “evil.” We have a gun problem and the wingnut answer of “MOAR GUNZ!” is not working.

As for MyLife, it’s a search engine optimisation service, except for your on-line reputation. You don’t change anything in it.

Even though they don’t lie well and can’t even agree on a lie, plenty of people will swallow that codswallop.

I knew nothing about MyLife until I went to their site, and right on the front page it tells you what they do. The prophets are banking on the faithful to not actually check and see what it says.

Conservatives are throwing ten metric fuquetonnes of bulk chickenshit out there to try to make anything stick, and overpower both factual reporting and victims (I just learned that Wal*Mart was in on the false flag with crisis actors and maybe paid them for some nefarious agenda).

Both of those terms also instantly takes someone who is Of The Body and makes them Not Of The Body. So not only are they not responsible, the killer was not them all along, so there’s no reason to self-reflect.

Which is why they don’t get into particulars about what “mental illness” is, ever.

Because—and this applies to the misogynists shooters too—any level of analysis beyond conjuring with term “mental illness” would have to address how the killer’s worldview was entirely consistent with the culture of internet people and “thinkers” and reactionary politicians and priests, but for the killing.

That every single bit of “logic” about how little the dead people mattered, how they deserved to die, bounces around both on- and off-life. The world’s full of people with kinds of mental illness—anxiety, melancholy, delusion, in varying degrees of intensity…whose struggles do not end in violence. And when mentally ill people become violent, it does not tidily replicate a fully-articulated pre-existing cultural explanation of why you should kill people.

Anything to admit that the values and prejudices that include a belief in (1) an natural hierarchy, (2) the inherent threat of The Other logically proceed to violence.

I believe you are overthinking this. This was a woke white supremicist, egged on by every Trumpian rally, who had access to an AK knockoff and high cap magazines who drove 500 miles from DFW to El Paso to kill as many Meskins as he could in a Wal-Mart. It was absolutely premeditated and his mental health is not an issue. He is a domestic terrorist, attacking random citizens in a retail establishment.

It is that simple and that tragic. The only reason he could do that was because he was able to buy an AK knockoff and high cap magazines.

The fix is pretty clear, is it not?

The solution seems pretty simple, does it not?

What you say is true but orthogonal to my point.

I’m pissed because “mentally ill” is a fucking copout used to cover for terrorism, when the terrorism is a radical extension of normative white American bullshit…and being actually mentally ill it’s one that has consequences for me and people like me.

I agree that we should focus on background checks and just generally not letting assholes have all the guns, but the dangerous blame-diverting excuse needs to be labelled as such as clearly as possible.

Talk about mental illness, talk about video games, talk about music, talk about “violent rhetoric,” talk about everything but who the gunman was and what he was saying aloud. All we’re missing now is the “victim” narrative, where we’re presented with a “Movie of the Week” sob story about he grew up under negative circumstances and that shaped him into a killer.

We are now counting mass-murders by hours between events.

The Women’s March put millions in the streets on the Facebook post of one woman in Hawai’i.

There was a march from the Capitol to the White House during the night over El Paso, and now this.

It’s past time for a nationwide general strike that shuts the whole damn country down. McConnell can’t ignore that. My craven representative and senators can’t ignore that.

Businesses certainly won’t ignore it. They will have their pet poodles’s head in the GOP on metaphorical platters.

An alternative for the so-called great dealmaker in the White House would be for the world to sanction trade with the USA. While we have the largest economy in the world, we are not indispensable to the rest of the world’s trade.

McConnell Says He ‘Saved the Supreme Court for a Generation’ (Bloomberg)

About all those Bernouts who said they would not be guilt-tripped by arguments “it’s about the courts.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told a crowd in his home state of Kentucky that he “saved the Supreme Court for a generation” by blocking President Barack Obama’s nominees ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

The Republican added that he “led the way” for Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, both nominated to the bench by President Donald Trump.

I am not on social media; I cannot. It’s going to take someone who is, and who’s willing to invest a lot of time in organising it, such as the woman in Hawai’i who organised the Women’s March, the teens who organised March for Our Lives, or the scientists who organised the Science March.

A march is being organised for Columbus, Ohio now. As for the rest of the country, the only way to get their attention is a French version of a nationwide strike, such that businesses pull the rug out of their bought-and-paid for politicians.

They cannot resist 150,000,000 people on a continuous strike.

That script needs to be flipped. Republicans do not even respond to their own voters, because their real constituents are the businesses who own them. Since Ronald Reagan was elected, Movement Conservative has sought to conserve and expand power wherever it can.

The NRA is in real trouble between the courts in New York and the scandal within its own board. Their own members have been stripped of the power to replace board members, but board members are attacking and suing each other already. When conservatives have no external enemies, they cannabilise themselves.

The non-voters were the biggest voting bloc in almost every state in 2016. They have to be reached to break the conservative lie “both sides are the same.” Voter suppression doesn’t have to include pulling polling stations or disenrolling voters; convincing voters they have a choice between “evil A” and “evil B” works just as well.

That’s going to take messaging better than I can do. However, the overwhelming majority of young voters lean Democratic, and voting patterns tend to be fixed for life. They need to be motivated to vote as if their lives depend on it (hence voter drives by March for Our Lives), because they do. The future belongs to them, and they damn well need to vote like their elders do. The Silent Generation and the older Baby Boomer Generation always vote, but their numbers are shrinking. The younger generations already outnumber them if they turn out to vote.

It’s up to us, individually or collectively, to teach and reinforce the most important civic duty a citizen has, exercising the vote.

Use your rights or lose them.

It makes me so sad and angry to see so many young people buying this rhetoric and then doing this. It’s not “senseless.” It’s inflamed. Trump inspires hate through the bully pulpit of the presidency. And his allies make it worse by going but Antifa. When’s the last time an Antifa member killed someone? I’m not sure what generation you’re part of (forgive me, I have a poor memory for associating names with things I’m supposed to know about them).

Millennial and Gen X voter turnout increased in 2016…and among millennials, black turnout decreased (Pew Research, voter turnout by generation from Greatest to Millennial, 2012 and 2016)

Part of the reason for the fall in voting amongsts African-Americans and Millennials can be attributed to voter suppression tactics against those groups. That doesn’t change the fact that the younger you are, the less likely you are to vote.

Waiting for Greatest/Silent/both cohorts of Baby Boomers to die off is not a viable voting strategy. Assuming I have a normal lifespan as a younger Boomer, I should have at least thirty years worth of voting left in me. Most of my cohort votes for Republicans.

Amongst Milennials, voting went up about 3% but did not crack 50%.

I’ll bet Tx. Governor A-Butt and his gang will propose a “faith based” mental health initiative to deal with mass shootings. This would be a huge win for his grifter/inbred/gentry base.
Besides the primary objective of taking the heat off the sacred penis extenders, it would allow the diversion of public funds to the superstition lobby, further stigmatize mental illness (always an important priority for fundies) and give the authorities more reason to intrude into people’s private lives. The usual suspects will love it.

Imagine if the disloyal rightwing of 1941, the pro-Axis isolationists, had figured out this strategy.
“We must have the decency to take time to mourn the dead of Pearl Harbor before we allow the Democrat party to politicize this tragedy with a special session of Congress.”

re: #155 Shiplord Kirel, Friend of Moose and Squirrel

Today feels about the same level of dystopia as if back just before WW2 the American Nazi Party, in their packed Madison Square Garden hate-fest, marched outside and actually took over the government.

We have a federal government and a solid chunk of state governments that have voters openly supporting and voting into power naked White Supremacist leadership. We have a sitting President at open war with the actual majority of the country and representing a minority White Supremacist plurality. We are living in this scenario right now. We have federal, local, and state governments enacting laws and revisionist court decisions that are specifically designed to eliminate minority power and imprison and kill minority populations. Gun Freedom is a declaration of war to use violence to subjugate and kill “the other” that to the, don’t belong here.

Yesterday’s dystopian fantasy is today 100% reality. White supremacist Christian Fascists have seized power.

[paged]

It’s mourning in America.

Wake up to learn that there’s a mass shooting. No, not that one. The next one.

Dayton Ohio. 9 dead there.

That’s hours after the El Paso massacre.

I lay this at the foot of the cult of GOP and NRA gun fetishists who put their right to guns of all kinds over public safety. I blame Trump directly for El Paso.

Trump is a stochastic terrorist whose actions and statements are indistinguishable from the manifesto and utterances of recent white supremacist domestic terrorists.

Where did these white supremacists radicalize? At Fox News and listening to Trump demonize minorities, immigrants, and treat them as subhuman.

I blame McConnell who has blocked election security and gun control packages already passed by the House. He must resign. The body count is on him. He’s refused to act and he protects Trump with his actions. This is on them.

And I’m sure as fuck politicizing the hell out of all of these mass shootings. It’s been decades since Columbine. It’s been years since Sandy Hook and VA Tech and even Parkland. The GOP blocks all sensible and reasonable gun control measures that have worked everywhere they’ve been implemented.

Gun control in the US is only as good as the weakest states. That’d be like Texas, where gun culture is insane and the per capita gun death rate matches.

Gun death rates are a way to compare states or countries to each other.

States with strong gun laws in the US have low per capita gun death rates. That’d be like NY and CA.

States with lax gun laws have high per capita gun death rates. This is indisputable empirical evidence. European countries have low per capita gun death rates compared to the US.

That means lower health care costs, lower crime rates, etc. It means far fewer mass shootings and murder suicides.

The GOP is perfectly content with the status quo, because they put gun maker profits over public safety. McConnell and Trump have no interest in changing it.

Trump is just pissed that this eats into his golf time at his golf resort today. He can’t be bothered to meet with the press before his rounds of golf. He can’t and wont demand Congress take up gun control now and call Senate back to session.

He’s responsible for this. Trump is a stochastic terrorist and he is fine with the body count.

He’s also redirected the FBI to look not at right wing violent extremists but at illegal aliens. He’s diverted resources away from going after white supremacists, who have a body count to pander to his white nationalist base who thinks immigrants are the threat. Again, this is stochastic terrorism in action.

McConnell needs to resign. He’s responsible for this as much as Trump is.

Antifa is nothing but a boogeyman to distract from the fact that all the violent rhetoric has been on the right.

Trump could have prevented the shooting in El Paso.

How?

By building The Wall as he promised. To stop the Hispanic Invasion of Texas that the shooter felt he had to prevent by mass murder.

He had two years of majority in House and Senate, enough time to have a planning commission submit a design, resolve all property issues and earmark a budget to commence work.

And then send the bill to Mexico and send a punitive expedition there to collect if they failed to pay up.

But it seems he lacked the will or the expertise to live up to his promises.

It could be all but finished by now, and the only people coming in through the Big Beautiful Door would be ones approved by the US government.

THIS IS HIS FAILURE!!!

Presidential hopefuls invited to gun control forum in Vegas
apnews.com

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two prominent gun control organizations said Thursday that they will host a forum for Democratic presidential candidates in Las Vegas on Oct. 2, the day after the city marks the second anniversary of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

The Giffords group and March For Our Lives said the forum focused on gun violence will be the first of its kind for presidential hopefuls and will be open to all candidates who meet the Democratic National Committee’s polling and fundraising thresholds for the September debate.

The organizations did not yet have details on which candidates would be attending. They have until Aug. 28 to qualify for the September debate.

DangerMan  Aug 4, 2019 • 6:54:34am

Blunt enough?

Democratic White House candidate Beto O’Rourke on Saturday blamed Donald Trump in part for the deadly El Paso shooting that killed 20 people because he said the president’s “racism” leads “to violence.”

O’Rourke criticized Trump when he was asked by an ABC News reporter if Trump bore any responsibility for the violence in El Paso.

“Yes,” O’Rourke flatly responded.

“We’ve had a rise in hate crimes every single one of the last three years, during an administration where you have a president who’s called Mexicans rapists and criminals,” said the former Texas congressman and El Paso native. He referred to Trump’s rhetorical attacks on Mexicans when the New Yorker announced his presidential candidacy in June 2015.

Trump “is a racist, and he stokes racism in this country,” O’Rourke said.” It does not just offend our sensibilities; it fundamentally changes the character of this country and it leads to violence

It’s almost like we have a problem. Obviously I am glad the shooter was taken alive but if he can, if Dylann Roof can be treated for burgers after shooting up a church, then Eric Garner should not have to be strangled for selling cigarettes or Tamir Rice shot without warning for playing with a BB gun. I’ve seen some gun control opponents claim that strict gun control laws would be harmful to minorities. Got news for them, with lax gun laws, it’s happening. Maybe fucking white people should realize the bod they get as gun owners that minorities never do.

There’s abundant evidence the shooter is a big fan of President Trump and certainly of his worldview. And yet the manifesto includes a sort of preemptive rebuttal of any claims that he is a Trump supporter or that Trump influenced. He predicts that “the media” will identify him as a white supremacist and blame President Trump’s racist and xenophobic rhetoric for radicalizing him and provoking the attack. Such claims would be “fake news” and such claims will indeed only prove that “the media” is “fake news.

Not just an enabler - a fellow traveller. This is where my suspicions about his personal racism lead me: he left NYC for white bread Vermont and did as little as possible for the civil rights movement because he is personally racist. Perhaps he’s the classic “democrat who got mugged”. I don’t know, I don’t care, I want him away from the Democratic party and I want him to stop being the poster boy for the democratic socialist movement in America.

I agree with your take.

All of these right wing young(ish) assholes are basically circus geeks, where instead of biting the heads off of live chickens they’re chucking out inflammatory racist shit to own the libs. They’re being paid to do things other normal people won’t do, not what they can’t do. And because they’re moral idiots, they can’t understand why other people don’t do this and reap the rewards, so that must mean that they’re so much smarter than me or you.

You (the royal you), know how people complain that the old Democrats are still in a defensive formation because of what happened after the Civil Rights Act was passed, the Southern strategy was implemented, and Reagan did his thing to appeal to white racists? And how they need to be bold like the newer Democrats? So, I managed to get Ubuntu running on this little old Acer Aspire One netbook. Not bad, a little slow, as this particular model uses the Intel Atom chip. But…..it’s working (I picked this one up cheap about two years ago…it had a bootleg copy of Windows 7). This morning, I downloaded Ubutnu 18.04, and just made this little beast a straight-up Ubuntu machine.

Eventually, I’ll save up the money to see if I can get the Vaio fixed, or at least, running long enough to pull the vital data off it. Hopefully, someday in the next year or so, I’ll have the $$$ to buy a good used laptop.

Were you running Ubuntu on the Viao? If so, pull the drive out, use this: smile.amazon.com to copy the data off the drive to your new machine. Save the money towards a decent new machine (laptop or desktop - I built an AMD Ryzen 5 desktop with 16 gb ram and 1.5 tb disk for ~$400) instead of trying to fix the Viao - laptop repairs are pretty much useless IME & all that.

So, right wingers are again trotting out the canard that video games make the mass shooters act out their violent fantasies?

Fuck that.

South Korea and Japan have a far larger gamer culture. They don’t have mass shootings, let alone the gun deaths per capita seen here in the US. Asia-Pacific has nearly 6x the gamers, but a fraction of the gun violence.

That’s because it’s not about the video games, or the mental health (which is remarkably constant across societies around the world).

It’s the easy fucking availability of guns.

States with strong gun laws have lower per capita gun death rates.
Countries with strong gun laws have lower per capita gun death rates.

Yep. If we tightened shit up to the level of even the Czech Republic (a gun loving nation in Europe) it we’d be rid of 90% of these shooters. Why? Becuase a psych eval is required to get your license. Pretty damned liberal once you have it, I might add, but the reality is that first step is what we desperately need and is in NO WAY a violation of the 2nd amendment. Just another casualty of the social-media age…..

While Gov. Abbot is busy bashing Antifa, he has not ordered the flag in his state to half-mast for the deadliest mass-murder in Texas as of yet.

When I went to UT Austin in 1980, the deadly Tower shooting was still alive in the memories of a lot of people there. Even we as students could wander the West and Main Malls and see the scars from the shooting. Now even the bullet scratches and missing chunks of rock have been buffed out of the metal and stonework, because we can’t be reminding people of the past. I am so damned tired of this. Very tired.

I’m reminded of when the French got tired of the Russian BS during the Berlin Airlift.

The allies were working on a second airport because Templehoff just wasn’t big enough and had apartment buildings lining the approach. The problem was the Russian radio towers were in the way and technically on land the French controled. Now, French/US/British relations have always been… _interesting_ but one day the Russian boss finally PO’d the French commander.

The other allied commanders were in a meeting when they heard an explosion. Thinking they were about to hear of another transport crashing, the phone rings. It was the French commander saying they didn’t need to worry about the radio tower anymore. They had dynamited it. :)

One can tie slavery to the gun culture, since it was fear of slave revolts that led to the creation of armed militias and such in the South. And the fear of Those People rising up and raping and murdering white people persists to this day as the primary reason for being armed.

When Obama (one of Those People) was President, this expressed itself as the need to protect against ‘government tyranny’ - since the government was now run by Those People.

Only partially. The militia really was intended to be the sole means of defense of the nation as well because of the terrorism of the New Model Army during the English Civil War. The northern founding fathers were convinced that a standing army would create a tyranny. The south, with it’s tyranny already in place, was concerned with keeping it. The militia met both their needs and you get the 2nd Amendment and the Militia Acts of 1792 which included requirements for every male citizen to own a military class long gun (.69 caliber flintlock smoothbore) which would be the same as requiring every citizen today to own a M-4 carbine as is currently issued by the Army. They wouldn’t blink an eye at it if that kept there from being either a standing army or a slave uprising.

There are any number of pathways, but mainly how slavery corrupted the fundamental relationship of human-to-human. Sanctifying that in church doctrine, passing it through the generations, and continuing the economic exploitation through more sophisticated processes all carry it down to today’s elementary school playgrounds.

Texas Democrats seem to want Beto O’Rourke to run for the Senate against John Cornyn instead of trying to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. Only 27 percent of Texas Democrats want the El Paso Democrat to run for president versus 60 percent who want him to take on Cornyn. Still, Beto is the second choice of Texans, behind Biden, to take on Trump.

I like Beto but I don’t think he’s the best POTUS candidate. He can do more for the country becoming a solid Senator now. Take out Cornyn.

Some sobering statistics.

[Mass Shootings] By decade

1950s: 0
1960s: 1 (University of Texas tower shooting)
1970s: 0
1980s: 6
1990s: 6
2000s: 7
2010s: 19 and counting

25 of these 39 mass shootings have taken place since 2007.

There have been as many of these shootings in the last 21 months as there were in any single decade prior to this one. We’ve gone from one such shooting every thirty years to one every three months. THERE HAVE BEEN MORE IN THE LAST 20 HOURS THAN THERE WERE COLLECTIVELY IN THE THIRTY YEARS BEFORE 1980.

Many of these terrorists are seen carrying guns in the open. Here’s something the NRA Stand Your Ground morins should support:
See an open display of gun other than law enforcement you can kill them no questions asked. There is no way to know if someone carrying an AR15 into a store is a killer. So kill them. Pass this law and I’ll come back and do my part. Enough terrorism from these gun fuckers. One person’s “protection “ is another person’s threat. Enough one sided fight. I still wonder how much of an effect the VP pick has on putting states in play. I honestly can’t think of the last time one did. Kaine and Pence were from states that their nominees were probably going to win no matter what. Same with Biden and Palin in 2008. Ryan in 2012 always felt more like a “keeping the movement conservatives happy” pick by someone always considered a squish. Maybe Edwards in 2004? Cheney and Lieberman weren’t swinging any states in 2000. Otherwise you probably have to go back to like LBJ in 1960.

I suspect that most people vote for the top of the ticket and don’t really put much thought into the VP pick.

True, but the one time you listed that really helped was the last time a Texan was picked. As a VP pick, either one would have more reason than most to come here. And anything that makes Texas a target for 2020 would not only help Democrats here, but would hinder the GOP who are getting worried that Texas is swinging.

Losing a presidential primary doesn’t preclude a cabinet position in 2021 (see: Clinton, Hillary). And plenty of presidential candidates don’t win the nomination and still go on to have careers after. This is Biden’s third time running for president after all - what is a bit unique for Beto is that he’s not currently holding office. Running in this primary keeps his name and face in the news, which is likely helpful if he wants to run for something else in the next cycle - high name ID always makes you an early frontrunner (see: Sanders, Bernie)

To be sure, there are a number of major states that do not register voters by party, such as Texas, Georgia, Washington, and the keystones of the industrial Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. If they did register by party, Texas, Georgia, and Indiana would almost certainly add to the Republican total; the industrial states probably less so.

I should probably do a more-thorough analysis to not come across as The Complete Debbie Downer; but I recall reading a breakdown a few months ago of the 2020 Senate races, and (at least at that time), it was considered at best a 50-50 chance for the Dems to take control of that Chamber: I think the reason is that while many more (R) seats are at stake, they are mainly in “Red States”: and those are considered unlikely to flip.

Yeah. “Senator O’Rourke” sounds really nice, but unseating Cornyn is going to be an uphill climb: IMO, Texas is still not quite that “purple” yet.

I recall (but can’t find now) that early on in the 2018 race pundits and pollsters thought it unlikely the Dems would take the House, due to the number of seats required. Enthusiasm for the race changed so that later on in the cycle the predictions moved to a likely flip.

Acknowledging you have a problem is the first step, Tailgunner Ted.

Now do Trump.

If Cruz won’t even defend his wife I doubt the cowardly liar will ever show courage.

Chowderhead responds;

Mexicans are not safe in the USA. Three are dead from the El Paso mass-murder.

The United States is obligated under international treaties and our own laws to protect foreigners within our borders.

Blackcraft Cult is a clothing company that does have a satanic bent to their designs. Anti Christian even. I get their newsletter, because I like their bat themed stuff, lol. That’s where that hoodie is from. Now they’re gonna get hate slammed by satanic panic Christians. Yay.

Not trying to blame the victim here (Heidi Cruz), but one of Cruz’s superpacs started it against Trump in Utah, taking out billboards across the state with lingerie shots of Melania Trump to paint Melania Trump as immoral to Mormon voters.

Trump saw his wife attacked, and went after Cruz’s wife in response.

Dark Falcon is on Twitter defending Dana Loesch today.

Ah Jeez. He just can’t help himself, can he?

I like Beto but I don’t think he’s the best POTUS candidate. He can do more for the country becoming a solid Senator now. Take out Cornyn.

Maybe a little late for him to run for TX Senate. But he can stump endlessly for MJ Hegar.
