WND Promotes Nirtherism in Iraq

Weird • Views: 3,231

Oh, for Pete’s sake.

World Net Daily continues to promote the world’s stupidest conspiracy theory, with a story about a soldier in Iraq who’s committing insubordination because of his Nirther delusions: Soldier doubts eligibility, defies president’s orders.

This link was emailed to me last night by a Nirther who wrote: “Now will you admit you were wrong?!?” And it’s been posted twice already in our spinoff links.

People. Get a grip.

A U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq has called President Obama an “impostor” in a statement in which he affirmed plans to join as plaintiff in a challenge to Obama’s eligibility to be commander in chief.

The statement was publicized by California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her Defend Our Freedom Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama’s birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

“As an active-duty officer in the United States Army, I have grave concerns about the constitutional eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to hold the office of president of the United States,” wrote Scott Easterling in a “to-whom-it-may-concern” letter. Obama “has absolutely refused to provide to the American public his original birth certificate, as well as other documents which may prove or disprove his eligibility,” Easterling wrote. “In fact, he has fought every attempt made by concerned citizens in their effort to force him to do so.”

Taitz told WND she had advised Easterling to obtain legal counsel before making any statements regarding the commander-in-chief, but he insisted on moving forward.

Well, of course he did. The farce is strong within these people.

Forget about birth certificates, people. I saw with my own eyes the birth notice for Barack Obama printed in an August 1961 edition of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. This was on microfiche in an obscure library in a different state. (I dug it out when researching my essay about Obama during the election.) No way it could have been faked. Zero chance.

Face it: The dude was born in Hawaii in 1961. Hawaii was a state in 1961. His biological mother was an American citizen.

Look, I know we all wish that Obama hadn't been elected, but the facts are these: He's a legitimate natural-born American citizen. He was elected to office mostly legitimately, and I say "mostly" because everybody knows there's always voter fraud going on, but the degree to which it affected the election would not have changed the results. Barack Obama is the bona fide President of the United States, like it or not (and I most definitely do not!), so do us all a favor and don't make the rest of us look like nutters just because you're THAT desperate to kick the man out of office. Wait until he does something royally stupid and nail him on that.

My guess is that he is (actually a serving officer in the military) because the person(s) attempting to make the case have been turned down by the courts before, for reasons of standing... so they have been looking for an active solider (who would then be in service to the CIC) to claim a legitimate standing. Its what is known as 'displacement activity'.
Worrying and blathering on about that nirth cert means one doesn't have to face up to the fact that one did nothing or not enough to prevent PB0's election, and one doesn't have to worry about what to do to prevent him from getting re-elected. Nor does one need to do anything to counter his disastrous policies.
As long as one spends time on this nonsense, one doesn't need to spend time on real things, or face up to that which one didn't do but could have and should have done.
Displacement activity, pure and simple.

Conspiracy theorists practice a predatory form of logic that I call "Argument from minutiae". That is to say, they seize upon the tiniest little inconsistent detail and blow it WAY out of proportion, then say, "See? SEE?! I _told_ you the official story was lies!" These types are what keep corporate lawyers and official spokespersons awake at night.

While the military can take people up to and including age 46 now at a first enlistment, most services do not with the exception of medical people. At age 40 there is no way you are going to last for a career and go to age 60 and the military knows that.

I do not know history and have not researched it, but I would bet that the other 44 presidents didn't go to court multiple times and hire a gaggle of law firms to keep these documents secret out of sight of the American populace.

As an American citizen, I believe I have the right to insist that SOMEONE (who isn't in his pocket and has nothing to gain by vetting him) verify that Mr Obama is indeed eligible for the presidency of the United States. And this soldier has my utmost respect for standing up and risking serious reprocussions because he believes in this so strongly.

Frankly, I still don't understand why Charles and others continue to blow this off.

Folks, we have a sitting president who absolutely REFUSES to release his original birth certificate, his medical records, and his college records, and has gone through alot of trouble to make sure those records never see the light of day. How can one not find that suspicious as all hell? As everyone keeps saying, if he's got nothing to hide, then there is no reason to be forthright with these documents and produce them. And this soldier has my utmost respect for standing up and risking serious reprocussions because he believes in this so strongly.

There might be embarrassing stuff on his school records, which is why he doesn't want them released. (Bad grades, disciplinary actions, etc.) Perfectly understandable, especially for a goof-off pot-head like Obama. Same with the medical records -- that could be really really embarrassing. Plus, what purpose would it serve? He's obviously healthy, you can tell just from looking at him.

As for why he doesn't release the birth certificate: Probably just withholding it to drive the nirthers crazy, at this point. But it might have something embarrassing on it too. What I suspect: It says, "Race: white." Which would really make "Dreams From My Father" a big joke, and ruin his whole narrative.

But that doesn't mean the birth certificate doesn't exist. He just doesn't want anyone to see it.

Disobeying orders is only acceptable when the orders are unlawful, i.e., machine gunning unarmed civilians, etc.
Under military law, military members can be held accountable for crimes committed under the guise of "obeying orders," and there is no requirement to obey orders which are unlawful. However, here's the rub: A military member disobeys such orders at his/her own peril. Ultimately, it's not whether or not the military member thinks the order is illegal or unlawful, it's whether military superiors (and courts) think the order was illegal or unlawful.

This soldier is wrong, wrong, wrong and should be subjected to a court-martial.

Unfortunately, we have to face facts. We will be stuck with these nirthers for the duration. They will still be howling about this after Obama is out of office in 4 or 8 years. They can't be reasoned with.

How many troofers still drag out the "Steel doesn't melt at 1000 degrees" argument? Anyone who thinks about it for more than 3 seconds will realize that yes, Iron nor Steel melt at that low temperature, but both become really soft well before that temperature and can no longer function as a load-bearing material. There's a collapsed offramp in Oakland and there was a collapsed bridge in Germany that prove this. Never mind the fact that Weapons and armor were made from iron in ancient Rome and the middle ages, using coal and wood fires, which obviously wont "melt" it either.

Yet they still think its their "Smoking Gun." This paranoid conspiracy type will never go away. Nirthers will still be writing books about how we were all hoodwinked in the 2030s.

Slightly OT, but what is it with people these days running around saying "I have a RIGHT to xyz" all the time? You do NOT have the right to say whatever you like about someone (libel/slander laws). You do NOT have the right to own a home. You do NOT have a right that says you can demand a public official publish their personal records and they have to comply. Rights are basic freedoms that are accorded to all men by their Creator. Privileges are things that are afforded to us because of our standing, they can be earned and they can be taken away and they are NOT GUARANTEED.

Absolutely. Besides which, I seriously doubt that he's ever been personally given an order by Obama. If his commander orders him to do something, as long as it's not to do something illegal, that's what matters. An order doesn't become illegal because you have some question about the authority of the person seven levels up the chain of command.

re: #91 zombie

I'm sure there's embarrassing stuff on his school records. We know that Obama was a very bad student at Columbia. He wrote an honors thesis, yet graduated without honors, which would put him well below the middle of his class. That's not good enough to get into Harvard Law School, even with affirmative action, and publicizing this fact would only revive the uncomfortable question of what powerful person called HLS to get him in. And who knows why Obama left Occidental. Maybe he was expelled because of disciplinary infractions. I guess we may never know.

But zombie, your speculative explanation of why he's so hell-bent on preventing anyone from seeing his birth certificate is a plausible one. I hadn't thought of that. Was race being entered on Hawaii birth certificates in 1961?

My only other hypothesis was that the problem is his middle name. Everyone knows what it is, but maybe, during the election, BHO just didn't feel like highlighting the ex-Muslim part of his identity unnecessarily. This wouldn't explain why he's still so obstinate even after the election. Maybe now he just doesn't want to look like he's caving in to the nirth troofers.

I am no Nirther, but the notice did not actually say where he was born, only that he was.

American grandparents might just have wanted to make the announcement.

IMO, the real issue is that they (the nirthers) are liars. Making up facts, and then when disproved moving on to the next lie. When that is disproved, they then can go to the next, or even start back at the first.

It reminds me so much of truthers.
They keep saying that he has not presented proof, and yet he has.

I posted a link here with a high res version, and close ups, and witnesses.
[Link: www.factcheck.org...]
The document is his real birth certificate, and HAS been presented outside of DailyKOS.
AND it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. birth and citizenship.

The head of the Health Department in Hawaii has confirmed that the original certificate is the same as the copy, and therefore Obama was born when and where his American family says he was, Kapiolani Hospital, Honolulu.

It has been verified by the state government official who is responsible for the document and it's authenticity.

The state created the document. That makes it his real Birth Certificate. It refers to where he was born as the county of Honolulu.

Hawaii does not, and has never created Birth Certificates that state the place the person was born as Honolulu, when they were not really born there.

In fact they have a rule specifically created to rule out this change of place of birth.

[Link: www.capitol.hawaii.gov...]

"The new certificate of birth shall show the true or probable foreign country of birth, and that the certificate is not evidence of United States citizenship for the child for whom it is issued or for the adoptive parents"

So the short form copy would not have listed his place of birth as Honolulu.

You might think that Hawaii Revised Statute 338-178 would have allowed that.

Well there is no Hawaii Revised Statute 338-178.

Now there is a section 338.17.8. But it covers certificates for those born out of state, not out of the country, and as per Hawaii Revised Statute 338.20.5 it does not change the Place of Birth.

But even if someone wants to argue about that, it doesn't matter because 338-17.8 didn't exist until 1982.

The state of Hawaii has been very clear, they hold the original 1961 birth certificate. He was born in Hawaii. The State of Hawaii does not hold the original birth certificates of people born in Kenya. The State, or Province in Kenya would hold that. The verified document states clearly where he was born, in the county of Honolulu. (I have verified that there is no County of Honolulu in Kenya.)

Again, Hawaii has never handed out birth certificates, amended, or otherwise that state the person being born in Honolulu when they were not really born there. If they did, then every illegal alien would show up and get one. As this document meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. birth and citizenship.

There is NO REQUIREMENT other than presenting this document to confirm the citizen requirements of qualifying for POTUS.

This document is official, and has been verified, and has been presented.

The Hawaiian official only confirmed the documents, but not the location of birth because she can't attest to him being born in the hospital that the documents from 1961 say he was. She was not a witness to that event in 1961.

However, she can verify that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate. And that it matches the copy that the State, and her department have provided the world. That very official and legal copy says he was born in Honolulu.

I do think it should be utterly uncontroversial for a US presidential candidate to have a politically neutral procedure for proving his/her constitutional eligibility to run for the office. And while the Constitution doesn't require medical records to be released, of course, I think We The People do have a very legitimate interest in seeing them.

Original documents being held by a government office are NOT released. This is to preserve the evidence. If the originals were out there, then people might suspect they have been tampered with.

SO these sort of offices give out copies... and they certify that copy.

You might still after 48 years have your originals, but I don't. So I go to the vital stats office and GET A COPY if I need it.

OBAMA did just that, and he has presented that.

The document is his real birth certificate, and HAS been presented outside of DailyKOS. AND it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. birth and citizenship.

Do you get that point? Anyone with a document like that has done everything they need to do in order to prove U.S. birth.

Hawaii does not, and has never created Birth Certificates that state the place the person was born as Honolulu, when they were not really born there.

Any questions?

re: #67 JohnnyReb

I don't think he is real. I admit I could be wrong, I have been in the past. But this seems to be way out there. No mention of his branch of service, his specialty, his unit, his location in Iraq, etc. And the story about not enlisting until he was 40 sounds a bit odd also. While the military can take people up to and including age 46 now at a first enlistment, most services do not with the exception of medical people. At age 40 there is no way you are going to last for a career and go to age 60 and the military knows that.

The age of enlistment was raised to 42 a couple of years ago. I'm with you on the rest of it though. Among other things, the maximum age of commissioning has not been increased, still 33 for the army.
It is hard to prove but it just rings false that a commissioned officer would claim that status but not give rank, branch, and specialty at the very least. Those things are your identity in the military.
re: #91 zombie

What I suspect: It says, "Race: white." Which would really make "Dreams From My Father" a big joke, and ruin his whole narrative.

But that doesn't mean the birth certificate doesn't exist. He just doesn't want anyone to see it.

This is as reasonable a hypothesis as I have heard. I think we have a winner.

Game over. Nothing left to talk about.

That is good enough for me.

Of course, if I were in Obama's place, I would have just released the long form birth certificate to try to shut the idiots up. It probably wouldn't have worked... meh.

Indeed, nefariouser and nefariouser.

Are ACORN operatives busy planting fake microfiche in libraries all over America?

Or did the mother of baby Barack call her friends at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin from her hospital bed in Kenya, back in 1961, and ask the to plant the phony birth announcement, because she knew that her son would one day run for president?

Maybe the three Wisemen that followed the star he was born under told her?

re: #91 zombie

I agree that he's a citizen and effort to prove otherwise is wasted if not worse.
At the same time as regards to school records and medical records I think he should be held to the same standard as any other president and if I remember correctly, Republican candidates are given public proctological examinations - embarrassment be damned. The same rules should appply to Obama.

Well as an atheist, I could give you my answer, but I won't since I do respect people who have religious beliefs and faith affiliations.

I was gonna say. There are still SOME of us with real heads attached to our bodies. Belief in God does not necessarily imply belief in nuttery. I believe it's when one starts constructing their own version of reality that one becomes unhinged - it happens with Truthers, Nirthers, rabid creationists, JFK conspiracy theorists, and the like. One can view reality through a religious frame of reference without reconstructing reality, but it's a distinction not very many people take time to make.

Is it really a surprise that Nirthers get the same (lack of) respect as Truthers?

That said, I thought that there was some new hook the Nirthers were hanging their hopes on, regarding his childhood in Indonesia. Apparently, there were some claims that his mother and step-father made him an Indonesian citizen, which technically would have invalidated his US citizenship, which he never actually went and corrected through proper channels later in life. Well, they do, that's all that matters. You know, I know Christian sects that call say Catholics are not Christians, and so on and so on.

A lot of the more liberal Christians sects don't believe in hell or Satan, so, they are not Christians.

Seventh Day Adventist don't believe in a number of standard Christian doctrines, are they not considered Christian.

Saying "I don't think they're Christians" in my mind is a cop out and only puts a person in the position to ignore the problem.

We had almost 2000 years of Christian Jew hatred and that ended up with what happened during WWII.

I guess those million and millions of Jew haters were not Christians. In that case, I suspect through out history, there was about 3 percent of the Christian nations that were really Christian.

Well, I don't know if it would really ruin it, any more than the fact that he's not the descendant of American slaves, had the luxury of attending fancy prep schools, was handed cushy stepping stone jobs without having to earn them, etc. It would certainly ding the narrative a little bit, though. And I guess even that could be enough to explain his insistence on keeping the birth certificate private. It's not a great reason, but we know the thing exists and he doesn't want anyone to see it. I can't really think of a better reason.

You're misinformed. You dont need to be a descendant of US slaves to have the "Black Experience." The Black Experience happens to all people of colour no matter how they have been raised and/or by whom. This was debated and answered before he made his presidential bid (I'm sure someone, somewhere tivo-ed a couple of daytime talk shows where it was discussed.)
Prep school was earned through dilligence and hard work. His personal qualities handed him those stepping stones.

Charles, I am willing to grant that an 18 year old would not make the best decisions in the world. Having been 18 at one point in my life, I know I sure didn't 100% of the time. I consider the possibility that Obama put a non-US citizenship on his college apps to get a leg up on other applicants at that age to be a distinct possibility. The ramifications of that would have been to shift his citizenship to either Indonesia or Kenya if he had since it would have been an affirmation of his citizenship in a foreign country. Obama can put a stake through the heart of this with a demonstration that he used his American passport to visit Pakistan and/or unsealing his college apps and disclosing them. When somebody holds on as tightly to something as this guy is doing, it raises suspicion. He should get rid of it if it is without cause. Fire does melt steel and 18 years do make bad choices.

My take on this is simple: Commissar Obama does not have to release any records of his to the public if he doesn't want to. Plain and simple. The government already has copies of the required documentation he needs to be eligible to be President, right? If so, then he has NO obligation to release them, as they are private records of a private citizen, IMO. If he wants to release them to the public, that's his prerogative.

One question I have is, just out of curiosity, can someone file a FOIA for these records, as they are held by the government, or is that off-limits under the law?

I'm rather fond of Wing Nut Daily. That website is an embarassment to conservatives everywhere.

KSFO San Francisco host Barbara Simpson is a big fan. She regularly has Joseph Farah on her show. I'm not a huge fan but I must admit that she's not entirely off her noodle. Many of her broadcasts are informative, especially on local issues.

It also should be an embarrassment to Christians everywhere.

re: #269 Lee Coller

The citizenship choice of his step-father means nothing unless he affirms it in his majority. If he does, then it means a lot. Likewise his dual citizenship with Kenya means nothing unless he affirms it. He could affirm it after the age of 18 on his college apps for either one, or by using an Indonesian passport to visit Pakistan after the age of 18. The record is fairly clear on minors, if you were born in the states, going abroad with a parent and being adopted/listed as a citizen of another country does not commit you to that decision. You can, however, make that decision for yourself after 18.

I applaud =you, that's the way it should be. To bad you are in the minority.

You're generalizing Walter. You know what happens when you generalize. Unless you have done a thorough polling of Christians (or any other group) you cannot put someone in a minority just because you have only seen one side of an issue. You are an atheist and I'm sure if we looked at some different conservative Atheist news sites we would find the same nirther theories as are posted on Christian sites. Yet I would not call you a minority member of the Atheist community (I once dated an Atheist and he was way way way off to the left of you and is probably a troofer now.)

There are any number of 'news' sites which will, of course, collect a following of chestnuts. The most vociferous ones are the ones that get heard. Think of how much moola 'Bat Boy' brought into the publishing world.

Do any of these lawsuits involve public (taxpayer) funds?

If so, wouldn’t it help reduce the budget deficit, show transparency, and let American focus on something important by releasing the birth certificate?

As mentioned earlier, it has to be something embarrassing:
Race Caucasian;
Fathers name/birthplace: Some new name not seen before
Fathers job: Homeless/Communist

That's what I've been thinking for a while. And it doesn't have to be something the rest of us even care about, one small detail that he doesn't like about it. We'll never know, and it does not in any way disqualify him from office.

O.R., the one drop rule was used a lot more in the South. In a newer state like Hawai'i, where everybody is mixed anyway, I doubt it would've been used.

Okay. So, Christians are not a monolithic homogeneous group. Maybe we shouldn't hold them all accountable for what their idiot fringe does.

All I am saying is that it seems an easy way out of a conversation like this is to proclaim "well, they are not real Christians."

I don't think anyone knows what's in the hearts of another Christian. And, there are many flavors of Christian theology, is one wrong and the other right? I don't know, and neither do other people.

365 A Kiwi Infidel  Tue, Feb 24, 2009 12:27:34pm

re: #268 Walter L. Newton

For a self prefessed athiest, Walter, you are actually closer to the truth than you realise.

I have been hit with Stinky's stick for going off topic during a "Creationism vs evolution" thread. Jesus said "go into the world and proclaim the gospel, saving men" (words to that effect) He DID NOT say," go into the world and try to prove that world was created during 6 days 6,000 years ago"
Creationism is a red-herring, a ploy of satan to take our eyes off the real problem. That all of mankind is seperated from God and we all need a Saviour.

re: #365 A Kiwi Infidel

For a self prefessed athiest, Walter, you are actually closer to the truth than you realise.

I have been hit with Stinky's stick for going off topic during a "Creationism vs evolution" thread. Jesus said "go into the world and proclaim the gospel, saving men" (words to that effect) He DID NOT say," go into the world and try to prove that world was created during 6 days 6,000 years ago"
Creationism is a red-herring, a ploy of satan to take our eyes off the real problem. That all of mankind is seperated from God and we all need a Saviour.

No, according to some here today, I'm dumping on Christians or something.

I apologize to anyone I've offended by my comments this afternoon.

But I will say this, it's evident where this is all going to end up. In my opinion, religion will destroy the conservative party.

9/11 attacks
On September 13, 2001, WND published a commentary by Anthony C. LoBaido regarding the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington two days earlier. In his column, LoBaido outlined what he regarded as the moral depravity of America in general and New York in particular, asking whether "God (has) raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America". [24] Commentators Virginia Postrel of Reason magazine and James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal criticized LoBaido and Joseph Farah for the piece and called for columnists Hugh Hewitt and Bill O'Reilly to sever their ties with WND, prompting Farah to respond with a column of his own denouncing Postrel and Taranto as "political correctness police". World Nut Daily, Still insane --- The Manchurian Obama:

On 10 February 2009, WorldNetDaily published an article by columnist and co-chair of former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's Faith and Values Coalition Janet Porter alleging that President Barack Obama may be a Soviet mole. Porter suggests that Obama was raised as an athiest and communist and was subsequently trained by communist agents from Russia during the early 1990's (despite the fact that the Soviet Union no longer existed at this time) and that his election as President is the result of a long-term Russian communist conspiracy. Porter's only evidence for these allegations appears to be a series of uncorroborated claims made to her by an American computer programmer (and right-wing conservative) who claims to have spoken to a Russian scientist in 1994 who told him that an American communist named Barack Obama was being groomed by Russian agents to infiltrate the Presidency.

Hot Air Headlines....
The Anti-Islam Film Everyone's Talking About

First, the obvious problem with his European First Amendment plan: Wilders has called for banning the Koran entirely. How does he reconcile this position with his new party platform as free speech martyr?

“I'm the one who normally opposes the banning of books, this looks very contradictory,” Wilders acknowledged. However, he explained, “the left” and “liberals” applauded a ban on Mein Kampf and the Koran should fall under a similar category, even if his proposed First Amendment law were passed in Europe.

“I believe that with the First Amendment—it’s also the case in the Netherlands—the red line is still incitement of immediate violence and this is the case of the Koran,” Wilders said. “It's right in there: 'kill them' and 'seize them.'”

Then there's the pesky issue, immigration aside, of how to reduce the number of Muslims currently in Holland, whom Wilders regards as a permanent fifth column. Wilders’ approach favors the carrot and the stick. First, institute payments to Muslims who leave the country (“on a voluntary basis”), then kick out all Muslim criminals by force, including natural born citizens.

“If they commit a crime and commit it again they should be sent away, even if it means they should be denaturalized and stripped of Dutch citizenship," Wilders said.

I asked Wilders what his thoughts were on American Muslims, who have assimilated with far less social unrest than in Europe.

“Have you heard of 'taqiyya?'” Wilders said
....
I called Hirsi Ali to ask her what she thought of Wilders' politics.

“I think that’s ridiculous, and I've been very hard on him for that,” Hirsi Ali said when asked about Wilders' call for a ban on the Koran and mass deportations. “He and I are not friends at all.”

All I am saying is that it seems an easy way out of a conversation like this is to proclaim "well, they are not real Christians."

I don't think anyone knows what's in the hearts of another Christian. And, there are many flavors of Christian theology, is one wrong and the other right? I don't know, and neither do other people.

I understood your meaning. I just think "Christian" is a very large brush. And if you paint with a huge brush, sometimes you get paint on your nuts.

UK sued over arms sales to Israel

Al-Haq, which is based in Ramallah in the West Bank, said that in trading with Israel, including supplying arms, Britain is breaking international law.

The organisation said that Israel had violated international law during its assault on Gaza and that Britain should therefore suspend all financial, military or ministerial assistance to Tel Aviv.

It also said that that the UK should "insist that the European Union suspend [its] preferential trading agreement with Israel until it demonstrates full respect for its human rights obligations".

OT: Gallup fails to read own poll.

Gallup just published new poll results for Obama. They say he is under 60% for the first time. Look at the phrasing of the results, and who they attribute the dip under 60% to.

To date, Obama has averaged 64% approval, but, as the graph shows, there has been a slight but perceptible decline in his approval rating since he took office. This decline has largely occurred among Republicans.

Then we get the actual results on this graphic.

Notice that it is support among Democrats and Independents that has dropped 3%. Republicans are unchanged on Approval, and actually 3% fewer disapprove of his job.

The only way to read those numbers is that Republicans are more favorable than last time while Democrats and Independents are less so. They are the ones placing Obama under 60%, not Republicans.

Unreal.

Regarding WWII. I haven't seen the numbers but I'd guess that there were a few more Christians fighting against the extermination of the Jews as there were fighting for the extermination.

There are psychos everywhere and with all beliefs.

As an Active Duty officer in the United States Army this guy is full of it. He is clearly more concerned with himself than the morale of his Soldiers and the good order and discipline of the unit. Whoever his superior is should immediately begin Article 15 or Court-Martial proceedings and/or Chapter 14-12c proceedings.

Actually a good way to settle it once and for all would be for Obama to simply release the authentic vault record copy which verifies a "Hawaii Birth Cerfificate", not a Certificate of Live Birth, which is known to be of a different genre so-to-speak, just to demonstrate that he is truly acting in good faith. If this were Bush or Palin or any Republican everybody would be screaming bloody murder for it. Frankly, it seems very strange to me as a new contributor, though long-time reader to this venerable blog, that on this particular issue, asking for that proof is a point of derision...

re: #543 Perfected Democrat
That's beside the point. This guy claims to be a Commissioned Officer in the US Army. It is extremely damaging to his unit's morale, order, and discipline for him to do this. He took the following oath:

I [state your name], having been appointed a [rank] in the U.S. Army under the conditions indicated in this document, do accept such appointment and do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.

He has no business questioning the political events that occur. If he so wishes, there are several methods available to him which would allow him to resign his commission and he can then make comments such as this. If this story is legitimate, I want this guy to do time and be dishonorably discharged for the effect this will have on his troops.

I don't disagree that it is inappropriate for any active duty service to be protesting by disobeying legal military orders, especially during the ongoing execution of any mission, that soldier's position is neither the place or time for it. However, on the topic of the certificate itself, there is no question at all, at the very least, of an appearance of possible obfuscation of the truth of this matter. When one looks at how events transpired the last few weeks in regard to the railroading and passage of the so-called "stimulas" legislation, with NO Republican input, and for all practical purposes, between the obviously unnecessary rush, but especially, almost no studious review of the bill by the legislators who passed it, something doesn't smell right; And that goes for the birth certificate issue. Both issues are justifiably suspicious, and their handling by Obama and company should be discerned as an outrage. I haven't even gotten started on the issue of the betrayal of Israel...

Frankly, it seems very strange to me as a new contributor, though long-time reader to this venerable blog, that on this particular issue, asking for that proof is a point of derision...

Sheesh. I don't know how many times it has to be pointed out that not only did the State of Hawaii release a statement verifying that Obama's real, honest to God birth certificate is on file with them, there are also birth notices in both major Honolulu newspapers from 1961.

To believe there's something fishy going on, you have to believe that the entire State of Hawaii is in on the plot. Don't you think someone would leak the truth if there was some kind of massive cover up?

Please. Don't you realize how ridiculous this issue is? Give it up. It's a dead end.

I happen to know a lot about one of the founders of NewsMax. He was also a founder of GeneMax (creative names, what?), an infamous Canadian pump-and-dump biotech stock that was in the news a lot over the naked short dust-up.

There is nothing and no one this man would not cheat and betray for money. That's all I'm at liberty to say.

re: #565 Lee Coller

Not true.
1) It was probably in the grandparents interest to declare him born in Hawaii. They only needed to phone in the birth announcement. This would have nothing to do with any possibility that he could someday be President.

2) The State of Hawaii did not disclose the actual contents of the original birth certificate nor did they produce a copy of the original to the media. This is because Obama would not give them permission to do so. Which begs the question- Why?

re: #568 Biff

How about "let's see the newspapers which ANNOUNCED HIS BIRTH" in Hawaii. Or do you think that this false information was mailed to two newspapers on the off-chance that someday the child would grow up to be the Democrat nominee for POTUS? Oh, and then have someone infiltrate the state gov't of Hawaii so that 47 years later they could lie about having the N.C. on file?

Sounds plausible...

Had he been born on his mother's trip to say Kenya, when it may have been planned that the mother was to have returned to Hawaii for the birth, it is very easy for me to imagine that the maternal grandparents may have phoned in the birth as local, just to simplify things. If Stanley returned to Hawaii after the birth, a Certificate of Live Birth could still have been issued based on an affidavit, and not as the result of a hospital generated birth certificate. Which brings to mind the possibility that there are Customs and Immigration records of Stanley Anne Dunham's travels at that time.

I'll address the issue of Stanley Ann Dunham's lack of ability to pass on citizenship on the basis of age next.

I am sincerely hoping that since Charles posted this topic, it means that he is tolerated opposing views on this topic, at least on this thread.

The point being, if he was not born in the US, his mother's citizenship, by statute, did not confer US citizenship on him. He would have had to be naturalized. This is pretty good motive for his grandparents to have planted the birth notice announcement. Interestingly, under Hawaiin law, they could have still gotten a certificate of live birth (do your own research).

As far as I could tell from researching this matter, there was a technicality in the legislation at the time which would have meant Obama would not have been a natural-born US citizen if born in Kenya. It's a moot issue as he was born in Hawaii.

It's possible, though unlikely, that his family could have placed the birth announcement in order to bolster a lie that would ensure there would be no questions as to young Barry's entitlement to US citizenship. Being president isn't the only reason one would want to claim that. It would mean that Barry had all the rights and privileges of citizenship without having to go through some tedious paperwork later.

What they couldn't do is have inserted a phony birth certificate into Hawaii records, and Hawaii has issued a valid short form birth certificate based on that vault copy It includes all the relevant details about him, including real place pf birth (Honolulu, Hawaii, USA) his real father's name (Barack Hussein Obama Sr,) and his "official" race (African). If he hasn't exerted himself further to get the vault copy released it's because he doesn't have to. The short form is accepted as proof of US citizenship by itself, and he has no reason to pander to the delusions of the nirther crowd and the people they've duped. Not that they'd be convinced anymore than the Troofers have been.

As for losing his citizenship, about the ONLY way to do that is to go to a US government office and specifically renounce it. Claiming foreign citizenship on a college application or using an Indonesian passport won;t do it. Check the State Department's site.

625 chukardog  Wed, Feb 25, 2009 9:18:14am

As I understand it the "short form" cert of live birth is not proof of being born in the US. Why are all his records sealed? Even his college records are sealed. Why not release a copy of the actual birth certificate. the Nirthers also contend that the form has been altered and is void. I havent seen the form, so I dont know.

As for the birth notice, that proves nothing. Anyone can place the ad. The Nirthers also contend that there is actual audio of Obama's Grandmother stating in swalhili that she was present when he was born in Kenya.

Im not jumping on the bandwagon, but the biggest red flag for me is the unwilling ness to release the actual records. What does Chairman zero have to hide? this would all be crushed by producing the actual birth certificate

As I understand it the "short form" cert of live birth is not proof of being born in the US. Why are all his records sealed?

As I understand it the "short form" cert of live birth is not proof of being born in the US.

That is incorrect. The short form, is acceptable proof of US birth for all Federal purposes, like getting a US passport or joining the armed services. It is certified by the State to be an accurate summary of the vault copy. The information on the vault copy includes information like the doctor's name. and similar irrelevant stuff. There are copies of both long form Hawaii birth certificates (though not Obama's) and short form ones (notably Obama's) out there on the internet. Google is your friend.

Hawaii long and short form certificates will not show any place of birth other than the true one. If the short form says he was born in Honolulu, so does the long form. They will alter the birth certificate for certain reasons, none of which permit the place of birth to be changed. Hawaii will register out-of-state births, but again, will include the true place of birth whether it be Kansas or Kenya. As I've already noted, his father's name and Obama's race are included on the short form and thus reflect what's on the long form, as if it matters.

(See Buck's post 159 for a link to the relevant Hawaii law)

The long form certificate is sealed as a routine matter of state law. Obama could cause it to be released, but he has no reason to do so, and, as some posters have noted, not doing so encourages fringe elements among his political opponents, making them look foolish.

As for the other stuff, he should, but probably won't. It's too late now. He's elected. By 2012, he'll have enough of a record that few will much care about whether he was a goof in school, only how he and the economy are doing at election time.
