Another Outrageous Outrage of the Day Bites the Dust
Yesterday I received several hate mails from those odd people who are desperate to find evidence that I’m “abandoning Israel” (I’m not, but since they can’t find that evidence they’ll just assume it’s true anyway), raving about a story published in Israeli tabloid Maariv claiming that Israeli nuclear scientists are being denied US visas.
Here’s one of those lovely emails, from a banned user using the email address “estherheyman@gmail.com” (get it? Esther and Haman?):
Your anti-Semitic hero is finally aggressing against the Middle East nuclear program he finds objectionable:
[Quote from Maariv article…]
Let’s see you print that one, Goebbels. Oh, that’s right. You deftly avoid printing all stories about Obama’s pathological Jew hatred.
Now I’m Goebbels too! I must be the only blogger who’s been accused of being just like Hitler, Goebbels, and Hitler’s mistress Eva Braun. Not to mention Stalin, Pol Pot, Jim Jones, Boy George, and Tiger Woods. OK, I’m kidding about Tiger Woods.
Be that as it may, there’s a reason why I didn’t post this story: because I’ve become completely jaded about these ridiculous “outrageous Obama outrage of the day” stories that never turn out to be true. (These days I’m going through several sets of AA Lithium batteries a week for the LGF-Acme BS Detector.) I don’t even bother looking into this stuff any more, because the stories are always either distorted beyond belief or completely false.
This one falls into the “completely false” category: White House denies Israeli visa story.
Imagine, if you will, my overwhelming flabbergastedness.
The White House is denying a story in the Israeli newspaper Maariv, gaining traction today on the right, that Israeli nuclear scientists have been denied visas to visit the United States. …
But White House spokesman Bill Burton flatly denied the report of a change to U.S. visa policy.
UPDATE: National Jewish Democratic Council CEO Ira Forman says in an email statement that he’s checked with Israeli officials, who told him “Israel does not perceive any change in the U.S. policy regarding this matter.”
Of course, being the Goebbels-Hitler-Braun thing that I am, I just might be making this up, and Obama is actually a Jew-hating cousin of Josef Mengele, twice-removed, who is diabolically denying visas to Israeli scientists and somehow preventing every media outlet in the world except Maariv from finding out.
But probably not.
One of those who swallowed this tabloid hooey hook, line, and sinker is Roger L. Simon, my former partner in Pajamas Media, whose BS Detector could use a major tune-up to compensate for his raging case of Obama Derangement Syndrome.
