Meanwhile, the right wing blogs have TOTALLY ignored the Dr. Pezzi story. If all you read are wingnut blogs, you wouldn’t even know that Andrew Breitbart published the work of a raving racist quack to attack Shirley Sherrod.

The right wing blogosphere is corrupt and partisan beyond belief.

It’s the missing link in the grand unified theory of conspiracy theories. To wit:

9/11, which was a conspiracy to take down the towers and purposefully designed by the CIA to blame Osama bin Laden (who’s on the payroll), was a grand conspiracy to institute sharia in the US. Not only did the US build a mosque in the Pentagon - the heart of the US military industrial complex, but through the actions of the dispicable President Bush, got the US embroiled in two wars, hundreds of billions spent to antagonize the Islamists (when not killing the terrorists of course), and following the souring of all Americans to the GOP saw that the first Black Kenyan Muslim be elected President by fiat (and a little help of ACORN). Moreover, the rebuilding at Ground Zero takes into account building a mosque and Islamic center nearby so as to consolidate and venerate the victory of the Islamists over the US on 9/11.

Actually, I did miss a few things - which is part of the paulian field theory. There’s not only the chemtrails that indicate that the a plane never hit the Pentagon but a cruise missile, and that Area 51 was central to using UFO technologies to confuse people much in the same way that the MIB use neuralizers, but that in order to survive the NWO, one must buy guys and gold to hold off the blue helmets that are plotting to take over in the black helicopters that are everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

I liked the last paragraph of the article:

Any guesses as to why no one has ever heard about Muslims praying at the Pentagon — let alone cared? It’s almost as if the entire “ground zero mosque” controversy was whipped up out of nothing by a right-wing tabloid and politicians in search of a wedge issue …

That’s the essence of this type of case. It’s pretty similar to those kids who wore the American flag in Cinco de Mayo (remember that?). If these stories hadn’t been so hyped by the usual suspects, no one would care. No one would even notice. Because it makes no fucking difference, even to the vast majority of people living or work in NYC. Or Manhattan. Or the Financial District.

Here’s a thought.

Hanief Sahaghafur, secretary of the Middle East and Islamic Studies master’s degree program at the University of Indonesia, agreed that the matter should not be considered a major issue for those wishing to pray. “If you are on a train or plane, you can still pray. Kiblat means direction. People should not have to be worried as God is everywhere — not just in Mecca,” Hanief said

Traditional Jews are split on this subject, mainly based on the lost location of the Holy of Holies. They don’t know where it is, so they don’t want to accidentally step on it.

But American Muslims should receive every bit of American tolerance, because that’s why we’re all here.

There’s a great video I wish I had. Some Christians tried to distribute pamphlets on a public street in Dearborn, Michigan just outside a Muslim event. Newsflash. We’re talking about Americans.

That happen to be Muslims.

Or does that first part not matter to you? You know, the part where they are Americans?

Right you are, Gus, and furthermore it’s not our concern how American Muslims feel about what their non-American co-religionists are doing to non-Muslims. After all, no one cares what American Catholics think about the actions of the Vatican, do they?

I don’t know what American Muslims are thinking about their “non-American co-religionists.” My guess would be that most of them are glad that they are here and not there. Not all American Muslims have close ties to the Middle East either and we’re also talking about 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants.

They need to stop talking about race, but they can’t. They really can’t — it’s a compulsive thing. Just like CAIR simply can’t bring themselves to condemn Islamic terrorism, the modern right wing simply can’t stop spewing racial idiocy, even when it would be politically advantageous.

It’s an indicator of how deeply held these atavistic beliefs are.

It’s a winning strategy in the short term, but the older, white population is not going to keep up.

That’s too vague. Indeed, the reason it is vague is because historically those nations who have dabbled in “fascism”, as reckoned by those who look back from today’s viewpoint, were rather diverse and their supposed turn to fascism is rather varied. Most people use “fascist” to mean German fascism.

I’ve skimmed the internet trying to find something that is more concrete, but this does appear to be a subject where the English word is rather overloaded with meaning.

More random π.

For example, the decimal representation of π truncated to 11 decimal places is good enough to estimate the circumference of any circle that fits inside the Earth with an error of less than one millimetre, and the decimal representation of π truncated to 39 decimal places is sufficient to estimate the circumference of any circle that fits in the observable universe with precision comparable to the radius of a hydrogen atom.

Speaking of insane Republicans, she’s back in the news today:

AP Exclusive: No gay adoptions, says GOP’s Angle

Republican Sharron Angle believes the clergy should be allowed to endorse candidates from the pulpit and opposes laws allowing gays to adopt children, according to a questionnaire by the Nevada Senate hopeful that was obtained by The Associated Press.

Angle, who is trying to unseat Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, completed the four-page questionnaire for a conservative political action committee that has endorsed her candidacy.

The document provides a window into Angle’s social and moral views, which would place her among Congress’ most conservative members at a time of ongoing culture wars over gay rights, abortion and the boundaries between religion and government.

Among her positions, outlined in answers to 36 yes-or-no questions, Angle would oppose making sexual orientation a protected minority in civil rights laws. In a section on school prayer, she affirms that students and teachers should be able to talk openly about religion in schools, including the right to “publicly acknowledge the Creator.”

[…]

Heh, sounds like the ideal candidate for the new GOP - she’d pass 100% in the IA, Maine, Oklahoma platform quizzes.

old Ozark folktale on the subject:

One time there was two farmers that lived out on the road to Carico. They was always good friends, and Bill’s oldest boy had been a-sparking one of Sam’s daughters. Everything was going fine till the morning they met down by the creek, and Sam was pretty goddam mad. “Bill,” says he, “from now on I don’t want that boy of yours to set foot on my place.” “Why, what’s he done?” asked the boy’s daddy.“He pissed in the snow, that’s what he done, right in front of my house!”But surely, there ain’t no great harm in that,” Bill says.“No harm!” hollered Sam. “Hell’s fire, he pissed so it spelled Lucy’s name, right there in the snow!”“The boy shouldn’t have done that,” says Bill. “But I don’t see nothing so terrible bad about it.”“Well, by God, I do!” yelled Sam. “There was two sets of tracks! And besides, don’t you think I know my own daughter’s handwriting?”

The more frequently the ’ ists ‘….. racists, fascists, etc,…. charges are tossed around indiscriminately in the news media, the less frequently will the real articles be recognized and challenged when they rear their heads.
The girlfriend of a gunman who killed people after being fired in CT is blaming his episode on ’ racists’ at his workplace, although there was never any evidence documented or any complaint filed. If right-wing rhetoric can incite nuts to violence, then it stands to reason that media constantly finding racism responsible for every action could inspire violence as well.
Both terms describe serious evils and should be used seriously.

re: #128 Spare O’Lake

I am simply pointing out what I perceive to be a bit of a double standard, and the recent example of the Vatican’s conduct came to mind. It seemed to me that there was a very healthy interest in what American Catholics thought about the issue, and I didn’t hear people avoiding the issue or seeking to stifle the discussion because it was happening in Rome or Europe.

Nor did we suggest that Catholics should not be permitted to have jobs working with children, or demand that public Catholic figures say the right thing, no, say it again, no, with feeling…eh, we don’t believe you anyway.

Nor were American Catholics widely condemned for continuing to go to Catholic churches despite the sins of the hierarchy.

There is no double standard here.

Am I interested in what an American Muslim has to say about the Muslim world? Sure.

Notice you don’t hear much gold being advertised on shows aimed at the below 35 demo? it’s not left and right, it’s age. It’s old people, it’s old demographics, that’s who buys gold, that’s who the scam is aimed at.

But isn’t Beck and his ilk have older viewers as well?

All true gamers fear the dreaded Gazebo

The tale features a player who is dumbfounded by the game master’s description of a nearby gazebo, as he has never heard of a gazebo. Convinced that he has encountered some sort of monster, he queries the bewildered game master for its specifics in meticulous detail then proceeds to attempt wounding it with an arrow (and, obviously, fails). By the end of the encounter the player, lacking the means to harm a gazebo, opts to flee in desperation; the frustrated game master responds “It’s too late. You’ve awakened the Gazebo; it catches you and eats you.”[2]

Michigan GOP Congressional Nominee Is A Birther

The GOP nominee challenging freshman Rep. Gary Peters in Michigan would like to see President Obama’s birth certificate.

National Democrats are circulating a video of Andrew “Rocky” Raczkowski, a former state representative and entertainment executive, telling a gathering in Novi, Mich., “You have a president that seems to be, um … well … I don’t know if he even has been born in the United States, but … until I see a birth certificate.”

Tell me about it. I don’t trust myself to touch Starcraft 2. Well, maybe only the campaigns…

Mille Bornes is a super fun card game. I discovered it on the net like 20 years ago. A little DOS version. I’ve since bought the deck for those hurricane outage times.

Oh and UnclesGames.com is a great place to find board games, card games, etc.

Hubby is getting his arse kicked in Starcraft II, but he always sets it on the hardest level. We’re waiting for Diablo and Civ5.

My mother, who is not Jewish, routinely exclaims Yiddish sayings like “oy vey”. Apparently she picked them up from those liberated from the concentration camps when stationed with her father, a US Army colonel, in postwar Germany.

So, even though I am a gentile, there is a certain warm familiarity in Yiddish sayings. I didn’t know the meaning of any of that until I was older. I thought everybody’s mom said that kind of thing when frustrated.

OK, Charles and Everybody -

I get the POINT. All Muslims are NOT Terrorists, Just as All Jews were Not Communists during the McCarthy Era. This one hits close to home as it affeceted my mother’s older sister who coordinated with Soviet Purchasing and Technology Types while Working at Eastern Aircraft (Grumman built by GM at Linden, NJ) during WW II as her First Language WAS Russian.
Martha taught me to read when I was three in Both the Latin AND Cyrillic Alphabets. Because of her experience, I learned the Latin Alphabet as my language and the Cyrillic as phonetics only, No Language. That was her and MY loss, had things been otherwise, I would have read and understood Russian as well as English.

Which. Pray Tell, would you rather deal with? -S-

Your point is well taken, but the problem is there are nutjobs who think that all Muslims are terrorists, or at least shills for them. Scott Wheeler is one such, since he accused the Park51 project of being part of “4th Generation Warfare”. I wish I was kidding.

Hey Bro..You know why most people lose in Chess? They don’t understand Theory..People have such egos they never ever ever know when to retreat from a position…They simply just keep on the attack and just like Boxing they never see the counter attack coming…A computer will retreat and then kick your ass after you fizzle out…That’s why people have a hard time beating a computer..Computers have no ego…
OK..That is pretty simplistic..Sometimes you just need to post a knight at K5 and protect it and blow them away…I love watching somebody sweat wondering what the heck to do next…I read a book once when I was a kid called the 1001 greatest Queen sacrifices…A queen can blow up a board better than a w-88 nuke…

Reason why I’m openly questioning the expense related to gaming and watching anime is because I just did some quick addition in my head and determined that when Fallout: New Vegas comes out, between buying the Collecter’s Edition and the strategy guide, even with the discounts, I’m looking at close to $100 spent on a single game.

“It’s a nondescript office building just two blocks from the White House — but in politics, it’s ground zero for what many are referring to as the “shadow GOP.” On the 12th floor of this New York Avenue office complex, four separate conservative groups are collectively planning to spend at least $70 million to help Republicans win back control of Congress this November.

But the effort isn’t limited to 2010. In an operation modeled after the ambitious fund raising, organizing, and research infrastructure that Democrats built up during the George W. Bush years, GOP political strategists are looking to achieve the same goal that their Democratic counterparts did in 2006: They want to win back the White House.”

the Dungeon Master should feel free to name the Blog Devils to fit the parties idea of an enemy from the right. The one below is an example, using a hostile ring-wing blogger as a template. The stats for all four devils are the same.

Unzipped Weasel

A portly man in a weasel suit, with an unzipped fly.

Armor: Obtusium chain-mail (reduces damage from fact-based weapons by 30%).

Spell:

Lunatic Lightning: Devil uses lightning from its hand. 3 hex range, 4D6 damage (reduced 50% with a save).

Explosive Scandal: The devil throws a paper containing an “Outrageous Outrage!!1” at you. It does 3D6 damage with a 2 hex blast radius. If the spell fails, roll the casting again. On a second fail, the scandal explodes in the devil’s hand, damaging it instead.

Weapon:

Falchion (short sword) of Fury: 2D10 damage (reduced 50% by a save).

No special.

Games are cheap. We have a teenage daughter in competition dance. 13 numbers last year. Between classes, costumes, competition fees, hotels, choreography, and workshops throughout the year, its somewhere between 5 and 10k. Thats a guess. Wife has me on a need-to-know basis and I don’t need to know.

Were the add-ons available on Chrome, Chrome and FF 4 Beta might as well be the same thing. -S-

Not using torrents as far as I can tell - might be the reason for my experience. FF is NOT perfect, No Browser Is. FF just seems to constantly hit my “sweet spot” in Linux, OSX, and Windows pretty consistently. I dabble with others and keep coming home. -S-

Wikipedia claims that the pineapple pizza dates back to 1962, however in Gidget Goes Hawaiian, released in 1961, the mothers ask a waiter in Honolulu where they can get a good pineapple pizza, and are told, “San Francisco”.

I suspect that the ‘enlightened’ and ‘urban’ mix going on here is, in fact, a reflection of the interest in things Hawaiian that accompanied the state’s acceptance into the Union, combined with the unholy interest in doing diabolical things with canned good that characterized the late fifties and early sixties. For references, please see “The Gallery of Regrettable Food”.

re: #796 jamesfirecat

Cool, keep going.

Additional for this battle: If the players captured the Backstabbing Backbencher in the previous encounter, they may elect to push him into the Golden Waters river. If this is done, the river’s trap activates and, in addition to all other effects, it drains BB’s life force completely, leaving only his swollen head bobbing on the surface. Players may then take the head and carry it as an item if they wish. There is no penalty to do this, but neither should the DM push the idea. It’s just something fun to do if the players want to do it.

Victory: When the Blog Devil are destroyed and Zombie Reagan either destroyed or returned to the tomb, the river’s trap stops working. Players may now safely wade across the waters. Atop a stone projecting from the wall on the far side of the river a copy of “The Conscience of a Conservative” can be seen now. It was being misused as a Soul Gem to channel Bad Craziness energy, but it is now freed. One of the players should open it to find the book incribed with the dedication “To the defenders of my real legacy, [the name of each player then appears], my greatest thanks. Prince Bernard.”

Gold: If players look down into the river after the battle ends, they find 8 gold coins scattered on it bad. Each is worth $10,00 gold.

Next is the interlude.

Good pizza is all about the crust and the cheese. They can put just about anything on top. I draw the line at Mac and Cheese as a topping. There is a restaurant around here that serves that nasty combination up and just to see that pizza is about enough to make me want to hurl.
