Tech Note: jQuery 1.6 Installed, All Systems Go
jQuery 1.6 has been released, and after testing, it’s now installed at LGF. Here’s a thread to report any problems or anomalies.
I’ve tested so far in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox in Mac OS, and Internet Explorer 8 in Windows, with no problems.
There is a problem several people have reported with Internet Explorer 7 (unrelated to the new version of jQuery), that I’m finding very difficult to track down. Unfortunately, it’s a crashing bug — IE7 starts loading the page, then issues a cryptic error message and bugs out. I usually suspect Javascript with these kinds of problems, but I’ve actually tested with no Javascript loading at all, and IE7 still crashes.
I’ve even reverted to a version of the site’s code from two months ago, when I’m pretty sure IE7 was working, and it still crashes. Odd. The HTML for the page validates perfectly, and Googling for IE7’s error message didn’t reveal anything helpful (it’s an “appcrash” in iexplore.exe and module ntdll.dll). So I’m grateful for any suggestions from techies on where to look.
Have I mentioned lately what a $#%@ %$#^&@ Internet Explorer is?
