I went to the Hillsboro 4th of July parade yesterday. Lots of candidates marched (all you have to do to get in the Hillsboro parade is turn in an application.)
Ron Wyden was there, as well as Chris Dudley (he's easy to spot).
There were some Tea Partiers. No pantaloons, but one man kilt, and at least one tri-corner.
The SAR was in uniform, but that's different.

Seems to be where we are now, being a Christian means that I automatically have to be a Republican, that I must love Sarah Palin and deplore Obama, and that I have to believe that Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are the absolute paragons of truthfulness. That Fox news is the only media outlet that I can trust to tell me what I should believe. That I have to believe in for profit medical/insurance corporations and be against universal healthcare for all citizens. That I have to control women's reproductive choices via restrictive laws and not allow them to make their own choice.
I also have to check my brain and intelligence at the door and deny the past 200 years (plus) of scientific advancement. I instead have to believe in Genesis as a literal historical document, in six day creation, that everything in the entire universe is only 6004 years old or less. I also have to develop selective amnesia and forget that Bush was the one who engineered and oversaw the bailout for Wallstreet and also the first put forward the idea of government "stimulus" spending and instead blame it on Obama. That I should now proclaim that supporting our troops overseas and the war on terror is wrong, but only because the war is being run by a Democrat majority government. Yet I have to somehow claim to support the military even as I do everything I can to cut the legs from underneath them in public opinion.
I have to tell people that Jesus would have been a Republican if he lived today and that he would support the Republican party platform wholeheartedly. I have to denigrate all other religious beliefs other than Christianity and even attempt to have them outlawed. I have to fervently believe that Obama is not a U.S. citizen, that any Muslim is really a terrorist bent solely on killing me and eradicating Christianity, and that Obama is secretly a Muslim who is cleverly attempting to slowly destroy the country.

As if any of that has a damn thing to do with the Gospel? With living a Christian life and promoting Jesus' message through the example of your own lifestyle? It is nothing but thinly disguised hatred of everyone "not like you," teaching hate, teaching racism and intolerance, and living in a constant state of disapproval and hatred of "others." Unfortunately it is practically immune to criticism because they claim that it is actually just following the teachings of the Christian Religion, and who can say it isn't?

The bugs have been horrid this year, everything has holes in it.
We ended up getting some kind of mold on even the morning glory leaves...it looks pretty sad.
I'm not happy at all.
The tomatoes are yummy, but looking few and far in between.

powershot sd1000. It has some gimmicky face recognition focus feature that might have been part of the problem. I've disabled it. I also think I've been using the zoom feature beyond what it's capable of. I've never really learned to use the camera. I'd rather go back to my trusty 35 mm but taking film to get developed is a pain in the ass.

Seems to be where we are now, being a Christian means that I automatically have to be a Republican, that I must love Sarah Palin and deplore Obama, and that I have to believe that Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are the absolute paragons of truthfulness. That I should now proclaim that supporting our troops overseas and the war on terror is wrong, but only because the war is being run by a Democrat majority government. Yet I have to somehow claim to support the military even as I do everything I can to cut the legs from underneath them in public opinion.
I have to tell people that Jesus would have been a Republican if he lived today and that he would support the Republican party platform wholeheartedly. I have to denigrate all other religious beliefs other than Christianity and even attempt to have them outlawed. I have to fervently believe that Obama is not a U.S. citizen, that any Muslim is really a terrorist bent solely on killing me and eradicating Christianity, and that Obama is secretly a Muslim who is cleverly attempting to slowly destroy the country.

As if any of that has a damn thing to do with the Gospel? With living a Christian life and promoting Jesus' message through the example of your own lifestyle? It is nothing but thinly disguised hatred of everyone "not like you," teaching hate, teaching racism and intolerance, and living in a constant state of disapproval and hatred of "others." Unfortunately it is practically immune to criticism because they claim that it is actually just following the teachings of the Christian Religion, and who can say it isn't?

Memories...when I left Florida for California I took a month to get there. New Orleans to Natchez. And beyond. It was the best trip.

We have gone open source with our Enterprise Software for the last 5 years.
Our SANS systems can connect to any Platform OS and read the Data.. Does matter if it is MS, Sun, HP, EMC, It is a hugely successful platform for us..

Little casual downloadable games that housewives like to play :D Think like Popcap games, bejeweled and such, but more indie and interesting. Nothing triple-A core like an Xbox game, very small budgets,
Oblivion is great, i too bought Oblivion (and Morrowind, and Daggerfall, ah memories) on the cheap and played the hell out of it. be sure and do all the different guild tracks! So much great stuff in the guild tracks. The assassin one especially.

In Florida they are still known as the "Black tag people" because the Michigan State plates were black with white lettering. They have been moving or retiring down here by the tens of thousands for the last several decades. Seeing Michigan plates is a very, very common occurrence in any part of Florida that you might happen to be in.
It is still true today, although the tags are no longer black, my last two girlfriends (back when I had a life) were both from Michigan and between them introduced me to hundreds of people from there.

Nothing will ever beat the sense of weird discovery of playing old creaky computer games pre-internet, no instruction manual, just a mysterious box, plug in the disc, start figuring stuff out.

We have had 2 or 300 hundred IT folks on Windows 7 ready to rip it a new ass..And trust me..Anytime we get a chance to rip Microsoft a new ass we have enough in house geeks ready to throw down...Seriously..
Windows 7 has gotten a thumbs up from our IT Dept...We love the codebase..
Microsoft did really well..Love the new OS

My favourite Oblivion mod is "cats and rats". Intended to add a little ambience to the houses and cities, the cats can however be marshalled into a formidable and intensely loyal fighting force if you have a decent command creature spell. And if one should attack a rat while you are walking through town with one and a guard sees it, all hell will break loose :)

Heh. Too many for me to pick a favorite. The companion mods can be cool, the ones with player houses, one that lets you rebuild that town where you find the heir. One thing I have to give Bethesda props for is making it easier for modders to go to work.

I've seen multiple tools for running virtual P&P over the internet, which I thought might be kind of fun. I may still do it. I have been reading through Basic Fantasy Roleplaying which is a really good take off on D&D before it got too damned complicated.

Different feel. You pretty much had to group to get anywhere, and there were quite a few puzzles in the game which was nice. Best part was there wasn't much in the way of grinding as you had to complete quests to get experience and levels as opposed to killing large numbers of whatever.
LOTR was probably the closest thing I ever found to a WoW clone.

She lives alone; I think this shook her up, that she was injured and had no one in the house to help her, and just wandered over just to have some company for a bit.

Most of the stores around here have started shrink wrapping them, which really sucks, but I'm sure it keeps the stock from getting too shopworn. If I was going to play again, I'd stick with some of the good Open Source rulesets out there right now.

She needs to be checked out anyway; all head injuries do. They also bleed a LOT when they bleed at all, even when the person is fine.
If she won't go to the hospital you should call them to take a look at her, sorry to say. Not for the bleeding, but for potential concussion and the like.

So we've got one spell (Spawning Sock Puppets) and a weapon (the Staff of Enduring Butthurt). We need at least one more spell and an interesting trait. We've already got Size (Gargantuan, needed for a "big-bad") and his alignment (Chaotic Evil).
The Staff of Enduring Butthurt is more of an encumbrance, a curse, basically. The weapon has to be the Flaccid Flail of Fail. As for the alighnment I would have gone for Chaotic Stoopid.

Neighbor just walked over, blood streaming down her face.
She fell and cut her head, looks like a pretty deep cut to me.Cleaned it up a bit and took a look; I think she needs a couple of stitches but she refuses to let me take her to the hospital.
She lives alone; I think this shook her up, that she was injured and had no one in the house to help her, and just wandered over just to have some company for a bit.
BUmmer. ER waits are going to be long tonight too.

She needs to be checked out anyway; all head injuries do. They also bleed a LOT when they bleed at all, even when the person is fine.
If she won't go to the hospital you should call them to take a look at her, sorry to say. Not for the bleeding, but for potential concussion and the like.

I had a big bad male shepherd for 14 yrs...he was as brave as a dog can be...used to tube down the rapids with us...fought several dogs that were far bigger and more vicious, all that...he was utterly fearless until he heard thunder or fireworks....he would find the darkest, most remote place to hide and just shake til it was over...you never know

well we hung around, trying to look like we fit in and I overheard some conversation he was having with other folks....he had a big smile and a hearty handshake, called my wife and I by our names...a decent guy I guess...it was the same party I met Rita Marley and her boys...Ziggy and the other one...also attending was the the Bishop of the island or whatever it is and other Jamaican notables...the Prime Minister was supposed to be there but didn't show...the party was at a small resort called Jake's that the Marleys were deep into...

Correct. Technically or politically, the expected move from the GOP would be to make the Afghanistan War, Obama's War. Doesn't mean I agree with it but it's a typical shrewd political strategy. Now I'm not saying all of the GOP leadership would be behind this strategy but a great deal. I'm also not including the GOP house and senate.

Good points. I think part of the reason is the youth of the Paulian crowd. Republicans are mostly old white people and I think they see the Paulians as a possible future.
When you look at the Tea Party pictures it's easy to see that the base is obese with an average age of 50-60. They're protesting from lawn chairs. The young vibrant and energized crowd are the Paulians. They're passionate and they know how to utilize the web. They are a very possible fututre for the GOP.

Look, the ONLY reason Steele was made head of the RNC WAS his race. Seriously. The GOP had to have a black guy suddenly as the public face of their party in the wake of humiliating and crushing defeat in Nov 2008. They didn't care much about who it was.

We're going to Mt Rushmore next week. I'm very excited cause I've never been.
I toured the Chickamauga battlefield back in 2002. Awesome, but even after the tour, I still couldn't put all the parts of the battle together.

My guess? It's antisemitic "Christian" haters who want to appropriate the old testament and make it Juden-rein. The Torah is ok for them because it's the Pentateuch-- the first five books of the OT, and therefore essential to Christianity as well.

Yes, that's why I mentioned the Talmud/Torah distinction above-- the obvious one that random Christian antisemites will appeal to. They 'love' the Torah only because it's also the first five books of the OT, and they seek to appropriate those books (steal them) from 'Jewish influence'. (This isn't just the CI people by the way)
That sort of fake Christian person will still loathe the Talmud because it isn't part of the Christian mythos. Can't be made judenrein, so it's better for them (in their world) to just purge it. And of course what they want to purge is Jewish people themselves, don't forget.

I think there is something very special about the kind of hate involved in antisemitism and although there are certain similarities among all strains of genocidal thought, historically and in every other way the kind directed at the jewish people is just different and always has been.
